2027 KTM 690 Rally: The 690 Enduro R Gets A Rally Makeover

KTM has taken its hardcore 690 Enduro R platform and turned it into a more rally-focused machine with the new 690 Rally. While it retains the powerful LC4 single-cylinder engine and off-road-focused chassis, the new Rally gets a proper rally tower, additional fuel capacity and more electronics to make it better suited to long-distance adventure riding. Here is everything you need to know about the KTM 690 Rally

Design

The 690 Rally is based on the 690 Enduro R platform, but KTM has made several changes to give it a stronger rally character. The biggest visual change is the rally tower at the front, which incorporates an integrated windscreen and LED lighting inspired by the KTM 450 Rally Replica.

Engine And Gearbox

The KTM 690 Rally is powered by a 693cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 79hp and 73Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and gets a Braktec hydraulic clutch with an integrated quickshifter. With a large-capacity single-cylinder engine and a relatively low kerb weight, the 690 Rally should offer a strong combination of punchy acceleration and off-road performance. The motor is designed to deliver its power across a broad rev range, making it suitable for both technical trails and faster sections of open terrain.

Wheels and tyres

The bike rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked aluminium wheel setup, wrapped in Continental TKC 80 tyres.

Weight and Dimensions

The KTM 690 Rally gets a seat height of 935mm and 265mm of ground clearance, the 690 Rally is clearly designed with serious off-road riding in mind. Despite its size, the bike weighs 161.5kg without fuel, which is relatively light considering its 20-litre fuel capacity and equipment.

Chassis, Suspension And Brakes

The KTM 690 Rally uses a Chromium-Molybdenum steel trellis frame and retains the off-road-focused underpinnings of the 690 Enduro R. At the front, it gets WP XPLOR 48mm upside-down forks with 265mm of travel. The suspension is adjustable for compression and rebound, allowing riders to set it up according to their riding conditions and preferences. At the rear, the bike gets a WP XPLOR monoshock with Pro-Lever linkage. It gets both rebound and preload adjustment. Braking duties are handled by Brembo hardware. Up front, there is a twin-piston floating calliper paired with a 300mm disc, while the rear gets a single-piston floating calliper with a 240mm disc.

Features And Rider Aids

The 690 Rally gets a 4.2-inch TFT display with built-in navigation, along with other essential motorcycle information. It also gets two standard ride modes: Street and Offroad. An optional Rally mode adds greater control over the bike’s electronic systems.

With Rally mode activated, riders can adjust the traction control and throttle response according to their requirements, which should be particularly useful when riding on loose surfaces. The electronics package also includes cornering ABS and MTC traction control. A 6D sensor monitors the bike’s movement and helps adapt braking and traction control intervention while cornering. The optional Rally mode also adds Dynamic Slip Adjust, which allows increased rear-wheel slip when the system detects that additional traction is required. This gives experienced riders more freedom to manage the bike on loose terrain without completely switching off the electronic aids.

Availability

There is currently no information on the KTM 690 Rally launching in India. For now, the bike is confirmed for the European market, where it is expected to reach dealerships in October 2026. If KTM eventually brings it to India, the 690 Rally would sit well above the 390 Adventure R in terms of performance and off-road capability, offering a much more serious long-distance rally-adventure package.
