Royal Enfield has introduced its first-ever electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea, a premium electric motorcycle designed for urban and beyond-city travel. The motorcycle draws design inspiration from the 1940s Royal Enfield Flying Flea, the brand's first model. The FF.66 combines classic design language with modern technology.
Design
Visually, the FF.C6 is undoubtedly a Royal Enfield. It looks like a minimalistic and slimmer version of the Royal Enfield Classic 350. It has a low-slung profile, round LED headlamps and indicators, suspension with aluminium girden forks and an elongated fender.
The flowing aluminium frame and magnesium battery case are well-designed, giving it an ICE motorcycle look. The seat, on the other hand, looks seriously slim. The design is completed by a round touchscreen cluster, which blends vintage aesthetics with modern technology.
Features and Technology
I would have never imagined a Royal Enfield with many modern features. This is where the Flying Flea distinguishes itself completely with a range of features like:
-
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QWM2290 processor for 4G, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.
-
Voice Assist button for hands-free navigation.
-
NXP microcontrollers are used for data processing and energy management.
-
Smartwatch and app connectivity for keyless rides, remote control of ride modes and diagnostics.
-
Over-the-air (OTA) updates.
-
Custom Vehicle Control Unit to personalise riding experience.
Future Plans
Flying Flea is set to expand its lineup with the FF.S6, a scrambler-style electric motorcycle scheduled for release by early 2026. The FF.S6 will cater to riders seeking both urban agility and off-road versatility.
Royal Enfield will establish an exclusive EV manufacturing space within its Vallam Vadagal facility in Tamil Nadu to support its growing electric vehicle portfolio.
Conclusion
In our opinion, the Flying Flea FF.C6 is a motorcycle made for countries like the USA and the UK, where there are different levels of motorcycle licences. This motorcycle will be well-suited for young people who want to get into motorcycling. The timeless classic design and advanced technology will add to the costume's appeal. Sadly, Royal Enfield hasn’t revealed the power figures or pricing; therefore, commenting on anything is tough at the moment.
