EICMA 2024: Hero's Latest 250s Unveiled; Karizma XMR 250 and Xtreme 250R

There’s one thing for sure. Hero has upped its design game by a fair margin with its latest offerings. The most recent ones we are talking about! Apart from the Xpulse 210, Hero Motocorp took the onslaught ahead at EICMA 2024 by unveiling not one, but two quarter-litre offerings. Namely, the Karizma XMR 250 and the Xtreme 250R. With these two new motorcycles that look ready to be sent on the production line, Hero has also unleashed a brand new platform. Both of these motorcycles are going to be underpinned by a new platform, powered by a new engine. Let’s get down to the details. Shallwe?

Design

They. Look. Killer! It is safe to say that with the new Karizma and Xtreme, Hero is going to lure in motorcyclists based on just looks alone. The Karizma XMR 250 in particular, has made a leap forward with new aerodynamic winglets and large side vents to go along with the rest of the design. Apart from these changes, the rest of the design looks familiar to the model that it is set to replace. Oh, new colourways should be a part of the package too! We aren’t entirely sure about the function of the winglets on a 30HP machine but they still add some visual mass to this fully-faired offering.

On the other hand, the Xtreme 250R has debuted for the first time and is based on the Xtunt 2.5R concept showcased at EICMA last year. While we are familiar with the Karizma, courtesy of the XMR 210, the Xtreme 250R presents itself as a completely new motorcycle. It is a true-blue streetfighter when it comes to its design and intent. Sharp cuts are splattered across the bodywork with an aggressive stance to make up for an attractive offering in the quarter-litre segment where motorcycles like the KTM 250 Duke and Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 also exist.

Engine and underpinnings

Both of these motorcycles will be powered by a brand new 250cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is rated to dish out 30hp and 25Nm of torque. We called it brand-new but it is worth noting here that this 250cc mill is a derivative of the 210cc mill that debuted with the XMR and will now perform duties in the Xpulse 210. To increase the capacity, Hero has lengthened the stroke by 7mm.

The new engine is wrapped around by a new steel-trellis frame which is suspended on by a USD fork and monoshock on both, the Xtreme 250R and the Karizma XMR 250. Hero claims that the Xtreme 250R will dispatch the 0-60kmph sprint in just 3.25 seconds. One of the standout features on the Karizma XMR 250 is going to be height-adjustable clip-ons.

Tech

Hero is also joining the bandwagon of other manufacturers to make their products tech-laden and the new 250s are going to be no different. Both of these motorcycles are going to feature switchable ABS modes, auto-illumination Class-D LED Projector headlight with DRLs as well as a lap timer and drag timer. They are also going to be laced with connected features such as TBT navigation and music control, to stay connected and informed on the go.
