Kia Carens Clavis | Long term report #2

After Diwali, life finally slowed down. The traffic eased, the fireworks stopped attacking my ears and the Kia Carens Clavis settled into its new routine. No more festival chaos. Now it’s been hauling camera gear, colleagues and the occasional snack-run crew. Basically, it has become the TG Garage workhorse nobody talks about enough.

With calmer roads came a surprising plot twist. Remember when I said not to expect miracles from fuel efficiency? Well, the universe decided to mess with me again. On a few relaxed city runs, the Clavis displayed 15.8 kmpl. Yes, 15.8! I took a second look, then a third… because this petrol DCT returning numbers like that felt extremely exciting.

It’s not just about the mileage, though. As a tracking car on shoots, it has been smooth and stable, keeping pace with all the performance cars you’ve read in this issue without making the crew inside regret their career choices. The suspension absorbs our crater-like Mumbai roads without complaint, and the 1.5-turbo petrol mill remains just the right mix of refinement and readiness to pounce. The AC keeps everyone alive during long production days under the sun and the space means nobody has to sit with a tripod poking their ribs.

Of course, the wired Apple CarPlay still mocks me every time the cable disappears into someone’s bag.

Two months in, the Kia Carens Clavis has just shown up, does the job and occasionally surprises you enough to step back and smile. And honestly, that’s the kind of long-term companion worth keeping around. I hope the boss thinks of me the same way!
