Yeah… It’s been a month, and no surprises here, I’ve been dailying the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. Not just because it’s my job, but because this motorcycle kickstarts my lazy mornings with a proper smash. The ride to work—thanks to relatively empty roads and a healthy 10km stretch—is done in full spirit, every single day.
It’s literally my cold-shower kick in mechanical form. Curiously, the bike always starts up in Performance mode, and almost as if it’s got a mind of its own, it “denies” to let me switch to Eco mode. Maybe the Guerrilla is just always ready to rumble.
For science (and to appease my fuel bill), I did try Eco mode. It’s not just a placebo, the punchy Sherpa feels noticeably restrained, which could save you some fuel. But the impatient version of me couldn’t test it thoroughly… I’ll leave that to someone with more zen.
Now, riding the Guerrilla to work every morning also means riding it back. Yes, Sherlock, that’s obvious, but hear me out. The evening commute is an entirely different beast. One hour plus in crawling traffic has done wonders for my forearms. I’m genuinely considering switching to right-hand-only gym days. I want a softer clutch next time.
But enough about my plight. Let’s talk about what’s good. The suspension is rather impressive and gives you a lot of confidence in corners. Royal Enfield hasn’t just slapped new clothes on the Himalayan and called it a day. The Guerrilla feels purpose-built. The rear might be a tad on the firmer side, but for a roadster, it doesn’t disappoint. The handling is nimble too, which helps me cut through Mumbai’s mad evening traffic like a seasoned delivery boy on a deadline. So, can you guess my top favourite Royal Enfield?
