Mahindra is all set to launch the heavily updated next-gen Scorpio in India on June 27. The carmaker recently confirmed that the new Scorpio will bear the ‘Scorpio-N’ badge while the current generation of the Scorpio will solider on as the Scorpio Classic. Apart from confirming the launch date of the new Scorpio, Mahindra has also revealed some images of the exterior of the Scorpio-N. Mahindra will be offering the new Scorpio-N with both petrol and diesel engines, which will come mated to manual and automatic transmissions. 4x4 will also be on offer as an option.
Exterior
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N is built on a newly developed body-on-frame platform and carries on with its boxy design. The images that have been officially released, reveal that the new Scorpio will feature a new grille, the new Mahindra logo and six slats.
Up front, it also gets redesigned LED headlamp cluster and DRLs. It might have received a thorough visual makeover. However, it still retains Scorpio’s signature design traits like the stepped roofline and identical roof rails and taillights running into the roof-integrated spoiler.
Interior
While Mahindra is yet to offer an official peek inside the cabin, the spy shots which surfaced earlier have revealed that the Scorpio-N will get a new and large touchscreen accompanied by an analogue instrument cluster with MID. Other features will include wireless charging, dual-zone auto climate control, power-adjustable driver’s seats, apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360-degree camera and a panoramic sunroof.
Powertrain and transmission options
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N is bound to borrow XUV 700’s powertrains which will include the new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, diesel engine. It might be possible that Mahindra will offer these engines in a lower state of tune. As we mentioned earlier, these engines will come mated to manual and automatic transmissions while 4x4 will also be on offer as an option.
