A One-Off 911 GT3 RS for Jo Siffert

In a spectacular homage to Swiss racing legend Jo Siffert, Porsche has unveiled a meticulously crafted one-off model based on the 911 GT3 RS. This unique creation, a product of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur's Sonderwunsch programme, celebrates Siffert's illustrious career and the historic victory of the Porsche 917 nearly 55 years ago.

The Legacy of Jo Siffert

Jo Siffert, affectionately known as "Seppi," is a revered figure in Swiss motorsport history. Despite his untimely death over 50 years ago, his legacy endures. Known for his charismatic presence and relentless passion, Siffert competed in a staggering 298 races over 11 years, often participating in multiple events on the same weekend. His most notable achievement came on August 10, 1969, when he and Kurt Ahrens secured the first international victory for the Porsche 917 at the 1,000-kilometre race at the Österreichring.

A Family Affair

The creation of the 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert was a deeply personal project, with the Siffert family closely involved. Philippe Siffert, Jo's son and a former racer himself, along with his son Jérémy, participated in the design process at Porsche's Zuffenhausen workshop. Philippe expressed his excitement, stating, "Witnessing the creation of this Porsche in honor of my father was extremely exciting."

A Visual Masterpiece

The tribute car is a visual marvel, echoing the design of the original 917 that Siffert drove to victory. Painted predominantly in Pure White with striking Viper Green accents, the car features the number 29 – the same as on the legendary 917. The design is further enhanced by meticulously recreated sponsor decals from Bosch and Shell, adding a layer of historical authenticity.

The silhouette of the 917KH is elegantly integrated into the centre lock of the satin black magnesium wheels and the sideplates of the rear wing. Jo Siffert's name and signature are proudly displayed on the B-pillars, along with a special badge featuring a helmet design.

An Interior Steeped in Racing Heritage

Inside, the tribute car exudes a racing atmosphere with Race-Tex upholstery in Black and Guards Red. The helmet motif is embroidered on the headrests, and the door entry guards feature the 917 silhouette and Siffert's signature. Even the vehicle key is a work of art, customized in Pure White and Viper Green, complete with the 917 silhouette and Siffert's autograph embossed on the centre console cover.

A Tribute to the Porsche 917's Legacy

The 1969 World Sportscar Championship was a pivotal moment for Porsche, thanks in large part to Siffert's exceptional driving. Porsche won seven out of ten races that season, with Siffert taking five victories alongside Brian Redman and one with Kurt Ahrens at Zeltweg. This victory marked the beginning of the 917's legendary success story, which includes triumphs at Le Mans and domination in the North American CanAm series.

A Unique Opportunity

The 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert will be on display at Swiss Porsche centres in August 2024 before becoming a highlight at the "Auto Zürich" trade fair from November 7 to 10, 2024. The right to purchase this extraordinary vehicle will be raffled among interested parties in Switzerland, making it a rare and coveted piece of automotive history.

In celebrating Jo Siffert's enduring legacy, Porsche has not only honored a great driver but also created a timeless masterpiece that blends history with modern craftsmanship.
