BMW M introduced its latest MotoGP Safety Car, the BMW M5 Touring, at the MotoGP Season Launch event in Bangkok. This new addition will join the existing BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car for the 2025 season, leading the championship's safety fleet.
A New Safety Car for MotoGP
The launch event, held in the One Bangkok district, featured all MotoGP teams and riders in attendance. The new BMW M5 Touring MotoGP Safety Car led a parade of riders, followed by a live stage show streamed live for fans worldwide.
Performance and Technology
The BMW M5 Touring MotoGP Safety Car features an M HYBRID powertrain, combining a high-revving V8 engine with an electric motor, producing 715 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. It is built for racetrack duty with modifications that enhance handling, safety, and performance.
The new Safety Car's livery design is inspired by BMW’s M Hybrid V8 race cars, which compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA series in North America. This aligns with BMW M’s push towards hybrid performance technology.
BMW’s Continued MotoGP™ Partnership
BMW M has been the Official Car of MotoGP since 1999, supplying safety and medical vehicles for the championship. Introducing the BMW M5 Touring MotoGP Safety Car continues this long-standing partnership, ensuring the highest safety standards on the track.
Where to See It
The BMW M5 Touring MotoGP Safety Car will remain on display in Bangkok until the 2025 MotoGP season opener in Buriram, Thailand, which will take place from February 28 to March 2, 2025.
