2024 Ford Mustang GT4 | Racing Dark Horse

Today at the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium, the brand-new Ford Mustang GT4 made its racing debut as a part of the Blue Oval's onslaught in several categories. Following the GT3's release, Multimatic will create the new generation of the GT4 model, which is based on the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse.

The Mustang GT4 appears more like a tweaked factory car from the exterior than the GT3, which is more outrageous-looking. This is a result of the rules for the SRO-sanctioned GT4 class, which prohibit wacky aerodynamic additions and put it in competition with racecars like the Toyota Supra and BMW M4. The Mustang GT4's body panels are composed of natural fibre to save weight, and the aero kit features a noticeable splitter, canards, and a sizable fixed rear wing.

Troy Lee Designs, who also clothed the Mustang GT3 and the SuperVan 4.2, gave the racing replica a vibrant livery for the ceremonial presentation. It includes the recently unveiled new Ford Performance badge with the pony car's distinctive insignia.

Full roll cage, Recaro bucket, digital instrument panel, yoke steering wheel, paddle shifters with pneumatic actuation, racing pedals, and a tonne of buttons in the dedicated centre console are all features of the interior's stripped-down design.

Under the hood is an internally built Coyote-based V8 engine by Ford Performance, which will be put together in Ford's Dearborn facility in Michigan. The company withheld information on the powertrain's specs, which will probably be released at a later time. A Holinger dog-ring gearbox transfers power to the rear axle. The Mustang GT4 is equipped with Multimatic DSSV dampers and Brembo brakes for its track-focused chassis arrangement.

Mark Rushbrook, worldwide head of Ford Performance racing, stated of the Mustang GT4, "The Mustang GT4 is a key member of our motorsports lineup." As a crucial component of our customer racing programme, its location between the Mustang GT3 and the soon-to-be-unveiled Mustang Dark Horse R maintains the brand competitive at all levels of on-track performance. We've upped the ante with this new edition and are prepared to take on a whole host of rivals because it is based on the brand-new Dark Horse model for the seventh generation.

The next Ford Performance Dark Horse R will add to the array of racecars built on the Mustang. It should be noted that the firm gave a sneak peek at six racing versions of the pony car in September 2022, not long after the debut of the seventh-generation Mustang.
