2023 Bharat GP | Sprint Race | Jorge Martin Wins First-Ever Indian GP Sprint Race

What an absolutely thrilling 11-lap sprint it was!  The first-ever sprint race at BIC witnessed a classic show run by Marco Bezzecchi from Mooney VR46 Racing Team as he moved to P5 after a crash just at the beginning of the race with his teammate, Luca Marini. Right from the bottom of the grid to P5 was a delight to watch for. However, it is disappointing for the Mooney VR46 Racing Team as they do not manage to extract the maximum potential outcome of the race. Another thrilling performance today was by Brad Binder from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, who managed to sneak in P4 from P14 in lap 1 itself. Moreover, he gave a tough fight to six-time GP champion - Marc Marquez from the Repsol Honda Team for the third position. The fact that Marc finished in P3 might have made Honda's fans very happy today. It was his 2nd Sprint Podium of the year.

Jorge Martin from Prima Pramac Racing has shown his confident form and was literally unbeatable at the track. He is the first sprint race winner of the 1st-ever Bharat GP. The Championship leader, Francesco Bagnaia, maintained his championship lead as he was heading onto his second position for all 11 laps. Joan Mir from Honda also had a good start at the race but could not able to keep up as he went wide in lap 4. Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo finished P6 in the sprint race.

After today's sprint race, Pecco is in the first position in the World Championship standings with 292 total points. Following him on to second place is J. Martin with 259 points, and third is Marco Bezzecchi with a total of 223 points.

Despite the heavy rain this afternoon, the track turned dry until the race was initiated. After the Wet Sprint Practise session, the race was further delayed due to wet patches in tricky turn 1. In a sad report, though, Luca has been diagnosed with a left collarbone injury, and his fitness for tomorrow's race is subjected to a test.
