German auto giant - Volkswagen has showcased the ID. 2all electric concept car, expected to cost under 25,000 euros, which translates into around 22 lakhs. Well, ID.2all electric cars would be the brands' compact, affordable hatchback that will replace the ongoing version of Golf in the European market. Apart from ID.2all, VW also intends to bring ten new electric models that will be launched by 2026, starting with ID.3, the ID. Buzz with a long wheelbase and the ID.7 , giving the brand a much-needed push towards electric mobility. Volkswagen also aims to invest its money and resources into developing more affordable EVs costing less than 2000 euros.
VW ID.2all production versions will be based on the latest MEB Entry platform, which other sub-brands will use under the VW group. ID.2all will get a front-wheel drive setup. VW has not yet revealed the battery capacity, but the platform features two battery options- 38kWh and 56kWh, with the latter one, ID.2all having a WLTP range of around 450km. With the power of 226ps, it could do 0-100 in under 7 seconds.
“We are transforming the company rapidly and fundamentally – with the clear objective of making Volkswagen a genuine Love Brand. The ID. 2all shows where we want to take the brand. We want to be close to the customer and offer top technology in combination with fantastic design. We are implementing the transformation at pace to bring electric mobility to the masses.” says, Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars
VW has put meritorious efforts into redefining technology by adding Travel Assist, IQ.LIGHT or Electric Vehicle Route Planner, to say the least. The cabin layout has been revamped with the latest design philosophy. One of the significant changes to the exterior design has to be the C-pillar design- developed for the first Golf and the ID. 2all will be the first Volkswagen with a new interpretation of this signature.
“The ID. 2all gives a preview of the new design language of Volkswagen, which is based on the three pillars stability, likeability and enthusiasm", says Andreas Mindt, Head of Design at Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
Well, the timeline for the production versions of the ID.2all concept cars for the Indian market is yet to be officially known. But first, VW will study the dynamism of the market by introducing a fully-import ID.4 EV. We have driven the ID.4 in Europe, and its drive impressions will be live soon.
