This American Company has Broken Rimac Nevera's Record, Koenigsegg & Bugatti are Next

When we talk of speed records, we are used to seeing the general names of Koeinigssegg, Rimac, and Bugatti. What if I told you there is a new member in town, and it has beaten the Rimac Nevera's record? Hard to believe, right? But this has happened, and the car in question is Czinger 21C. What is Czinger, and what record did its 21C beat? Let's find out:

Fastest Production Car Up the Hill at Goodwood

In the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023, the Rimac Nevera took home the achievement of being the fastest street-legal production vehicle to go up the hill. The hypercar from Rimac had done this 1.16-mile course in an unimaginably fast 49.32 seconds. Well, the record has been beaten by an American company, too. This was done in the Czinger 21 with the driver, Chris Ward, controlling it. The new entrant crossed the finish line in a mere 48.83 seconds.

Still not the Fastest Ever

While the 21C holds the record for the fastest production road car to complete the Goodwood hill climb, it is not the fastest overall. That title belongs to the incredibly speedy McMurtry Speirling, a single-seater electric vehicle. In 2022, former F1 driver Max Chilton completed the short track in 39.08 seconds, beating the previous time by 9.75 seconds.

A Minor (Yet Major Hiccup)

Some of the viewers of the record noticed that by the end of the run, one of the car's side mirrors was dangling from the body following a minor impact with a haystack. This likely reduced aerodynamic efficiency slightly, but the Czinger 21C still managed to trim nearly half a second off the Rimac Nevera's time.

About the Czinger 21C

Even if it technically qualifies as a production car, only 80 units are being made, making it far more exclusive than the Rimac Nevera, which will have 150 units produced. It was Designed and built in California and derives its power from a 2.88-liter twin-turbo V-8 petrol guzzler that revs up to 11,000 rpm. To aid this powerhouse, Czinger has added two front-mounted electric motors to bring the total output of the monster to 1,250 horsepower.

The record-breaking stint was done with a standard 21C, but users can also opt for a 21C V Max that can reach 407 kmph compared to the 21C's 352 kmph. Furthermore, there is a 21C Blackbird that stands out as the highest-performance variant with 1,350 horsepower. This track-focused beast is the rarest, with Czinger making only 4 units of it.
