Maruti Suzuki Cars Now Come With 3 Years Standard Warranty

Owning a Maruti Suzuki car has suddenly become a wiser decision. Why? You will now get a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 km (whichever is earlier) instead of the earlier 2 years or 40,000 km warranty. This new warranty period applies to all cars delivered after July 9.

New Standard Warranty

While Maruti Suzuki cars are known for their reliability and marginal costs of ownership, the extended warranty makes them a more enticing affair with the assurance of warranty. The parts covered in this standard warranty include the engine, transmission, mechanical components, and electrical and air conditioning systems, excluding consumables. Users will be able to claim this warranty if there is any manufacturing defect or they face a breakdown of the parts while they are under warranty. The repairs and replacement of these parts will be done in the authorised service centres of Maruti Suzuki.

New Extended Warranty Options

If 3 years of warranty does not make the cut for you; then you can also opt for 3 new extended warranty packages from the Japanese giant that can extend the warranty for up to 6 years. There are 3 options for an extended warranty:

The Platinum Package gives you an extended warranty for up to 4th year/1,20,000 km.

The Royal Platinum Package extends the warranty period for up to 5th year/1,40,000 km.

The Solitaire Package is the most elaborate package, with an extended warranty of up to 6th year or 1,60,000 km (whichever is earlier).

Maruti Suzuki vs Rivals

The 3 years of warranty in Maruti Suzuki models is a welcome move for the Indian market but is not something we have seen the first time. In fact, brands like Hyundai, Toyota, Tata and Honda already offer a standard 3 year warranty. Skoda and Volkswagen take it one step forward with their 4-year standard warranty extendable up to 8 years. Maruti Suzuki now moves ahead of Renault, which offers a 2-year/50,000 km warranty.

New Warranty Could Give Sales Bump

Maruti Suzuki has had a stellar performance in recent months, with a sales figure of 1.37 Lakh in June 2024. Its charge was led by the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024, with the Ertiga, Baleno, Wagon R, Dzire, and Brezza making it to the top 10 of India sales in June. We expect this warranty update, along with the UP hybrid road tax waiver, to further boost their sales in the coming months.
