Kia Recalls 1,138 Units of EV6 in India

Kia India has announced the recall of 1,138 units of EV6 because of a possible problem with the integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) that might hamper the performance of the 12V battery. If you, too, own a Kia EV6, check if your car was manufactured in the time given below, and if it did, take the necessary steps.

The Issue

The issue exists in cars produced between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023. This recall is very similar to the one that happened to the Ioniq 5 just a month back. Kia said they would update the  ICCU software to eliminate the issue.

Kia’s Solution

As a solution to the problem, Kia has informed the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) that they will run a recall program, contacting the owners of EV6 across the country and informing them. The owners will be required to contact the Kia dealers near them to schedule an appointment to have the software updated.

Not The Only EV Recalled

The KIa EV6 is not the only EV that has been recalled recently. As mentioned earlier, its counterpart, the Ioniq 5, was also recalled just a month before due to a similar issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). All the Porsche Taycan units have also been recalled recently due to an issue with their front brake hose. Due to different issues, Tesla has also made multiple recalls over a year for its models, such as the Model 3, Model S, Model X, and the Cybertruck
