After generating quite a buzz on the internet with spy spots and espionage information, Harley-Davidson has finally revealed its mass-market roadster to rival RE Classic 350, Jawas and Yezdies. Harley-Davidson X440 has been co-developed in partnership with Hero MotoCorp. A rough idea of what the bike would look like has already been formed, but now that the official images are out, the bike's design is pretty clear. The bike's launch is scheduled for the first week of July.
The first thing one would notice is that the fuel tank's branding now reveals the motorcycle's full name, which Harley-Davidson has been code-named 4XX. Secondly, the design clues have been borrowed from Harley Davidson XR1200. A round headlight with a horizontal light bar up front, a wide flat handlebar, and nice flowing pillion seats with cruiser ergonomics gives X440 quite a stance. Moreover, 18-inch wheels at the front and 17-inch at the rear make the bike look proportional.
The suspension duties on X440 would be taken care of by upside-down front forks and twin rear shocks. The braking hardware includes a disc brakes setup on both wheels along with dual-channel ABS and a side-stand engine cut-off function. Multifunctional switchgear also gives clues that it might come with Bluetooth connectivity.
The heart of the matter will be a 440cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor whose official performance figures at yet to be released. Given that it will rivals RE350, expect the power and torque figures to be around the same as that of Classic 350. The price range is expected to be under 3-lakhs to make it competitive among its rival.
