Honda Cars Get CNG in India: But there’s a Catch!

Want to buy a Honda car but in CNG? It is now possible. CNG, with its lower price and better mileage figures, has been in strong demand, especially for fleet cars. Many companies like Tata and Maruti Suzuki have observed this demand and are now offering the majority of their models with factory-fitted CNG. One company that did not jump on this bandwagon for the longest time is Honda. There is a way around it now, though. Here it is.

Dealership CNG

Unlike the general mainstream companies, Honda does not offer a factory-based version of CNG. For this, you will have to get CNG fitted from the dealerships as an aftermarket add-on. The add-on is available for all three Honda models in India: the Amaze, City, and Elevate. One amazing part of this is that you can get CNG kits fitted in both the manual and CVT variants of these cars. The charge for this kit would be around Rs 75,000 to 85,000 after the cost of the car. The dealers are offering a 1-year warranty to customers on these kits. The kits are from Lavato, a known name in the aftermarket parts. The tank capacity is 60 litres, but it will eat into the car's boot space. This kit can also be retrofitted into Honda cars that have already been sold.

Honda India Plans

Honda has claimed that they are now working on enhancing its portfolio in India. In 2023, Honda had promised that they would launch at least one new model per annum, including entirely new models and the facelifts of existing models. They intend to target the premium range of customers with their new strategy, which saw the launch of the new Honda City and the Honda Elevate. The next step in this strategy could be the third generation of the Honda Amaze. Honda plans to launch 4 new SUVs in India by 2030. The expected SUVs in this line would include an Elevate EV and a 7-seater SUV. The Japanese brand is also looking into the possibility of importing some of its premium models through the CBU and CKD routes to India.
