The 150cc-160cc segment is getting quite competitive as it is the perfect match of styling, mileage and performance for the masses. Recently, Bajaj came up with N160, which then drastically upped this segment's dynamics. Apaches' ruled the heart, and Gixxer dominated with its engine refinement. Honda played it safe with Unicorn, and Yamaha lured the enthusiasts. Hero is now set to launch Xtreme 160R soon to mark its presence in the market. On the design front, the overall silhouette of the bike looks similar to the outgoing version. The aggressive stance would rather be made more sporty with some quirky elements, which shall be known on 14th June. Expect it to come up with more colour shades and more features.
The suspension could be retweaked, or it will instead get a premium USD fork that could enhance its riding dynamics. On the braking side, Hero would give a dual-channel ABS setup to the Xtreme 160R, at least in the top-spec variant. It is expected Hero Xtreme 160R will come up with a digital console that shall come up with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
The engine of the Xtreme 160R would now be updated to a 4-V setup, making it BS6 Phase 2 compliant. The engine displacement would be the same 163cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled that produces 15hp of power and 14Nm of torque. The updated power and torque numbers are yet to reveal.The prices are also expected to get a slight bump; expect it to launch under the Rs 1.20 lakhs mark.
