Volkswagen ID Every1 | Affordable EV for Everyone

BMW and Mercedes-Benz have launched a range of electric cars, but these manufacturers only cater to the market's premium segment. On the other hand, Volkswagen wants to make an EV for the masses—the ID Every1. ID Every1 is still in concept phase and will launch in 2027. The car will look similar to the concept renders and cost $21,300 (18.50 lakh). The 18.50 lakh price is set for UK buyers, if the car launches in India, it will cost around 8-10 lakh.

Design

The Volkswagen ID Every1 is heavily inspired by the Volkswagen Up. The car's face almost looks like it is smiling, with a blacked-out upper faux grille and headlights that look straight out of a Pixar film. To add to the design, we get vertical LED DRLs on the edges of the bumper. The side profile looks minimalistic with star-shaped rims and lacks door handles, which will be added on the production variant. On the rear, we get a spoiler-like design on top of a red Volkswagen logo, and the tail lights have the same Pixar design. Overall, the car looks good, it owns up to its small form factor.

Interior & Features

In classic EV style, the ID Every1 interior remains minimalist paired with a large display in front. It does have physical buttons for temperature and volume controls. It has a two-spoked squared steering wheel with a few buttons, and AC vents with the same Pixar headlight design. The car also has a detachable Bluetooth speaker between the driver and passenger seat. Overall, the interior design seems clean and bright due to the use of bright colours.

Conclusion

Overall, the ID Eyer1 seems like an attractive package which tries to make EV accessible to the masses. The 2027 launch date does seem too far off, but we are hopeful that Volkswagen will take this time and deliver a great overall package. There is no word on whether this car will launch in India. Selling this car in India will be challenging because brands like Tata and Citroen already offer budget EVs.
