Key Details
VinFast VF6
The VF6 is pitched as the entry point to the brand. At under 4.3 metres, it’s in the compact SUV category, but VinFast has given it sharp styling, eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, and 18-inch alloys to make it stand out. Inside, there’s a Tesla-esque minimalist dash dominated by a 12.9-inch touchscreen. Instead of a driver’s display, you get a head-up display showing speed and other essentials.
Power comes from a 59.6 kWh battery paired with either:
-
177 bhp / 250 Nm motor (Eco trim)
-
204 bhp / 310 Nm motor (Plus trim)
Fast charging from 20–80% takes 30 minutes, and features like ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and 7 airbags add appeal.
VinFast VF7
The VF7 takes things up a notch with larger proportions (over 4.5 metres long), 19-inch alloys, flush door handles, and a cabin that feels more premium with dual-tone trim and leatherette. Boot space stands at a useful 537 litres.
It uses a 70.8 kWh battery pack, available in both FWD and AWD configurations:
-
201 bhp / 310 Nm single motor (FWD) with a claimed range of 532 km
-
354 bhp / 500 Nm dual motor (AWD), capable of 0–100 kmph in 5.8 seconds
Kit includes ventilated seats, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS.
Summary
VinFast enters India with two SUVs that tick most of the right boxes: striking design, strong features, decent performance, and competitive pricing. But the real challenge lies ahead, building trust in a market where after-sales support and brand recognition often matter more than the brochure. With Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, and MG already entrenched, VinFast will need more than just good products to stay the course.
