The First-Ever Electric Ferrari

2025 will mark a historic moment in the automotive world as Ferrari unveils its first-ever electric vehicle (EV). Known for its high-performance, roaring V8 and V12 engines, Ferrari’s transition to electrification was once unthinkable. However, during the Q4 2024 earnings call, CEO Benedetto Vigna confirmed that the official unveiling of Ferrari’s first EV will occur on October 9, 2025.

This shift represents more than a technological advancement; it signals a potential transformation in the luxury performance car segment. If Ferrari successfully enters the EV market, competitors like Lamborghini and Aston Martin may follow suit.

Prototype

In September 2024, the first glimpse of Ferrari’s EV surfaced all over the Internet. Despite the yellow electric prototype stickers, the car sounded like a traditional V8, raising speculation about Ferrari’s approach to preserving its signature engine notes. The prototype even featured fake exhaust pipes, giving it a classic Ferrari look.

While we don’t know much, one thing is certain: this Ferrari EV will be engineered for ballistic performance and will stay true to the brand’s DNA.

State-of-the-Art Production Facilities

Ferrari has developed a dedicated “E-Building” at its Maranello factory to support its ambitious electrification plans. This new facility, located north of the historic Ferrari campus, will be responsible for producing:

  • Electric motors and drive units for both hybrid and fully electric models.

  • Battery packs are built using advanced in-house developed cells at Ferrari’s new “E-Cells Lab.”

These investments highlight Ferrari’s commitment to the electrifying future.

Conclusion

Ferrari’s entry into the EV market is a bold step that could redefine high-performance electric vehicles. Purists will remain sceptical, but Ferrari is determined to prove that electrification does not mean sacrificing the V12 harmony or performance. If the Ferrari EV succeeds, it could set a new benchmark for luxury electric supercars, influencing the entire industry.
