Tata Motors has expanded the Sierra lineup with the new Legend Series, introducing five variants with a wider spread of features and equipment. The range starts with the Smart + L and goes all the way up to the Adventure + L, giving buyers more ways to choose the level of comfort, technology and convenience they want from the SUV. Prices for the Legend Series start at ₹11.99 lakh and go up to ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant, engine and gearbox. The lineup is available with petrol and diesel powertrains, along with manual and automatic transmission options. Here is a closer look at what each variant brings to the table.
Smart + L
The Smart + L serves as the entry point to the Sierra Legend Series, but Tata has not kept the equipment list bare. The variant gets leatherette seats, door trims and armrests, giving the cabin a more premium feel from the outset. Steering-mounted controls also make it easier for the driver to operate key functions without taking their hands off the wheel. Outside, the Smart + L gets auto-folding ORVMs and Bi-LED projector headlamps, while passive entry and passive start add a little more convenience to everyday use. Safety equipment includes six airbags, an electronic parking brake and ESP with more than 20 functions. It is priced from ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Pure L
The Pure L builds on the Smart + L with a noticeable step up in technology and convenience. The biggest addition is a 26.03cm touchscreen infotainment system paired with an eight-speaker audio system. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also included, making it easier to stay connected without having to plug your phone in every time you get into the car. This variant also adds cruise control, which should be useful on longer highway drives, along with Hill Descent Control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The exterior gets 17-inch alloy wheels as well. Prices for the Pure L start at ₹13.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
Pure L (O)
The Pure L (O) is aimed at buyers who want to add a little more of the outdoors to the Sierra’s cabin experience. It gets all the equipment offered on the Pure L, but adds Tata’s Panoramax voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, which is positioned as one of the largest in the segment.
There are a couple of useful convenience upgrades as well. Automatic headlamps take care of switching the lights on when required, while rain-sensing wipers automatically adjust their operation depending on the intensity of rainfall. The Pure L (O) starts at ₹14.29 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it ₹50,000 more than the Pure L.
Pure + L
With the Pure + L, Tata shifts the focus towards making the Sierra more comfortable for both the driver and passengers. It carries forward the equipment from the Pure L (O), including the panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers, while adding several comfort-focused features. The front seats are now ventilated, which should come in handy during India’s warmer months. The driver also gets a six-way powered seat with a thigh-support extender, while Boss Mode allows the front passenger seat to be adjusted to create more space for the person sitting behind. Dual-zone automatic climate control gives the front occupants greater control over their respective temperature settings. Rear passengers also get two 65W USB-C fast-charging ports, making it easier to keep phones and other devices charged on longer journeys. The Pure + L is priced from ₹14.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Adventure + L
At the top of the Legend Series sits the Adventure + L, which brings together the comfort features of the lower variants with a more comprehensive technology and capability package. One of the key additions is a 360-degree HD surround-view system with 4Sight, giving the driver a clearer view around the vehicle while parking or manoeuvring in tight spaces. Front parking sensors further assist in these situations. The Adventure + L also gets Superglide Suspension with Frequency Dependent Damping, along with multiple terrain modes. These additions are intended to give the Sierra greater versatility when the road surface gets rough or conditions become less predictable. Inside, the technology package gets another upgrade with a larger 31.24cm touchscreen infotainment system and a 26.03cm digital cockpit with navigation. Ambient lighting adds to the cabin experience, while the rear seats get a two-stage reclining function. A wireless charger and cooled glovebox round off the equipment list.
The Adventure + L starts at ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the fully equipped automatic diesel version goes up to ₹19.49 lakh.
