Tata Motors Unveils the Sierra ICE Concept at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025

Tata Motors has revealed the much-anticipated Sierra ICE concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The new SUV marks the return of the iconic Sierra nameplate, making its debut in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and all-electric variants. The Sierra ICE is poised to compete in the compact SUV segment. It will rival models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Skoda Kushaq when it goes on sale later this year, following the launch of its electric counterpart.

Design:

The Sierra ICE concept showcases a design inspired by the Sierra EV but incorporates several distinct touches to distinguish it as an ICE model. The overall aesthetic pays homage to the original Sierra, combining familiar elements with modern styling cues. At the front, the SUV features an upright stance with a wide LED light bar running across its width. The grille echoes the design language seen on other Tata vehicles. The front bumper has a black and silver finish.

The side profile retains the signature rectangular side window from the original model, complemented by flush door handles and dual-tone alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, the Sierra ICE is equipped with a striking LED light strip that connects the sleek taillamps, maintaining its upright silhouette with a chunky rear bumper finished in piano black, adorned with a faux silver skid plate.

Interior:

Inside, the Sierra ICE concept features a dual-tone theme, reflecting a contemporary layout with design elements borrowed from Tata's other models, such as the Harrier and Safari. The cabin has a four-spoke steering wheel and a dual-screen setup consisting of a 12.3-inch fully digital driver's display and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. The inclusion of ambient lighting further enhances the modern feel of the cabin.

In terms of comfort, the Sierra ICE concept is well-appointed with features such as a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, and power, ventilated front seats. It also includes connected car technology, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality ensuring seamless connectivity for drivers and passengers.

Features and Safety:

Tata Motors has ensured the Sierra ICE has an impressive list of features. Among the standout offerings are a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, and ambient lighting. The SUV is also designed to be convenient, offering powered and ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof.

On the safety front, the Sierra ICE concept is loaded with modern safety features, including six airbags, an electronic stability programme (ESP), a hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and a driver attention warning. The vehicle also has advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety and convenience.

Powertrain:

Under the hood, the Tata Sierra ICE concept will likely offer two engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, expected to produce 170 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. The second powertrain option is a 2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. This diesel engine is expected to be shared with other Tata models like the Harrier and Safari.

Transmission options for the Sierra ICE are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, allowing for a versatile driving experience.

Rivals:

The Tata Sierra ICE will face stiff competition in the compact SUV segment. Its key rivals will include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Citroen Basalt, MG Astor, and the recently launched Honda Elevate.
