Skoda Elroq vRS: The Green Streak of Performance

Skoda has done something rather unexpected. They've taken the relatively sensible Elroq and given it the vRS treatment, resulting in a crossover that is, dare I say, quite quick. It's called the Skoda Elroq vRS, not just a sticker job. It's the fastest accelerating Skoda production car ever. Yes, really.

The Numbers That Matter

We're not here to debate whether Skoda should be making fast crossovers. It's already done, and the numbers are rather impressive:

  • Power Output: 340 bhp from a dual-motor AWD setup

  • Torque: Approximately 500 Nm (Skoda's keeping it vague)

  • 0-100 kmph: 5.4 seconds—faster than most hot hatchbacks

  • Top Speed: Around 180 kmph (because it's still an EV)

  • Battery Capacity: 84 kWh

  • Range: Up to 550 km (WLTP)

  • Charging: 185 kW DC charging (10-80% in 26 minutes)

  • AC Charging: 11 kW (full charge in about 8 hours)

Point to Ponder: It's faster than the regular Elroq by 1.2 seconds in the sprint to 100 kmph. That's quite something for a crossover.

A Bit of a Looker, If Green's Your Thing

The Elroq vRS doesn't just perform better; it also looks like it means business. The Mamba Green paint, exclusive to the vRS, is rather eye-catching. Combine that with the black accents, vRS badging, and an aggressive front bumper; it looks like it's constantly daring you to race it.

  • Wheels: Standard 20-inch alloys, optional 21-inch if you're feeling brave

  • Headlights: LED Matrix, because why not

  • Unique Touches: Illuminated slat patterns on the grille, blacked-out roof rails, and a honeycomb air dam

  • Rear Design: Tinted windows and an all-black bumper for that extra bit of menace

Inside

It's a bit sporty, a bit luxurious, and very green. The interior features plenty of Alcantara trim, with bright green accents reminding you that it's a vRS, not just any Elroq.

  • Dashboard: vRS-specific graphics on the 5-inch digital driver display

  • Infotainment: 13-inch touchscreen with the option for an augmented reality heads-up display

  • Comfort Features: Heated and massaging electrically adjustable front seats (standard for driver, optional for passenger)

  • Sound System: Optional 675W 12-speaker setup because silence isn't for everyone

  • Charging Ports: Four USB-C fast chargers and wireless charging as standard

  • Other Bits: Ambient lighting and sporty touches everywhere

Driving Dynamics: Stiffer, Lower, and a Bit Louder

As expected, the Elroq vRS doesn't just go faster in a straight line. Skoda has given it a stiffer chassis, a lower ride height (15 mm at the front, 10 mm at the rear), and two-piston caliper front brakes for better stopping power. There's also a bit of synthesized sound—choose between Sport and Futuristic—because it wouldn't be a performance EV without some audio flair.

Will It Come to India?

That's the million-rupee question. Skoda is testing the waters, having showcased the standard Elroq at the uto Expo 2025. Whether the vRS version makes it here depends on how keen Indian buyers are on a performance electric crossover.

Final Thoughts

The Skoda Elroq vRS i-PROVE electric doesn't have to mean boring. It's fast, green (literally), and rather smartly executed. While Skoda may still be pondering its Indian debut, one thing's clear: the kind of crossover is more about adrenaline than aerodynamics. And that's something worth getting a bit excited about.
