Renault will launch the all-new third-generation Duster in India on March 17, 2026. Showroom display units have already begun reaching dealerships, with deliveries scheduled to start in April. This marks the return of the Duster badge to India after it was discontinued in 2022. For Renault, this is more than just a product launch. It is a reset.
Three engine options, including a strong hybrid
At launch, the Duster will be offered with two turbo petrol engines.
A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 99bhp.
A 1.3-litre turbo-petrol producing 161bhp.
Both engines will get a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.3-litre unit will also be available with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic.
Later in 2026, around the festive season, Renault will introduce a 1.8-litre strong hybrid. The petrol engine produces 108bhp and works with a 48bhp electric motor and a 20bhp starter generator. The combined system output stands at 158bhp, powered by a 1.4kWh battery.
Familiar shape, sharper detailing
The India-spec Duster retains the global model’s upright stance but adds unique LED headlamps and tail lamps. The front gets eyebrow-style LED daytime running lamps that double as indicators, a bold grille with Duster lettering and a silver bumper surround.
Ground clearance stands at 212mm. Wheel sizes go up to 18-inches and roof rails can support up to 50kg. At the rear, a connected LED light bar and black bumper with silver accents complete the look. Approach and departure angles are 26.9 degrees and 34.7 degrees, respectively.
A big upgrade inside
Inside, the India spec model gets a redesigned dashboard compared to the global version. There is a 10.1-inch touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, and 6-way, power-ventilated front seats. Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, four-wheel disc brakes and Level 2 ADAS.
Expected price and rivals
The new Duster is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh ex-showroom. It will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate and the upcoming Tata Motors Sierra.
The takeaway
The Duster name still carries weight in India. With three powertrain options, strong hybrid tech on the way and a feature-loaded cabin, Renault is clearly aiming to be taken seriously in the midsize SUV segment again. March 17 will tell us how aggressively it wants to play.
