Renault Duster scores 5 stars in Bharat NCAP safety rating

The new 2026 Renault Duster has earned a 5-star safety rating for both adult and child protection in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. The Duster joins its peers like the Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and the Maruti Victoris in the 5-star-rated SUV club! Here's a detailed breakdown of its results:

Adult occupant safety - 30.49/32

The Renault Duster scored 30.49 out of 32 for adult protection. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scored 14.49/16, providing good protection to the head and pelvis regions of both the driver and the passenger, and adequate protection to the chest and feet of the driver. In the side-movable, deformable barrier test, it scored a perfect 16/16, with good protection for the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis regions of the occupants. It also gets an ‘ok’ clearance for the side pole impact test.

Child occupant safety - 45/49

In the child occupant safety test, the Duster scored a respectable 45 out of 49. The tests were conducted with two dummies, an 18-month-old child and a 3-year-old child, mounted on child seats. The 18-month-old dummy scored 8/8 in the Frontal Impact Test, while the 3-year-old dummy scored a full 8/8; both dummies scored full points in the side impact tests. The Seltos scored 12/12 in the CRS (Child Restraint System) and 9/13 in the Vehicle assessment score.

Safety features

The Renault Duster comes equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), side head protection system (curtain airbags), four wheel disc brakes, seat belt reminders, tyre pressure monitoring system, cornering stability control, and ISOFIX anchor points for child seats as standard across all the variants. Higher versions get Level 2 ADAS tech with adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

Vs rivals

Other 5-star BNCAP-rated cars in the segment include the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Sierra and the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. With prices starting at ₹10.49 lakh, the new Renault Duster makes a statement not just with its features and powerful engines but also with its 5-star safety rating.
