Porsche 911 GT3 turns 90 with a birthday suit

Porsche has made a habit of celebrating itself, but this one feels particularly personal. The 2027 911 GT3 gains a limited edition to mark what would have been Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s 90th birthday. He was, after all, the man who sketched the original 911 and accidentally created a global obsession.

It’s called the 911 GT3 90 F.A. Porsche and it’s based on the GT3 Touring, which means no oversized rear wing and a little more understatement than the track-focused GT3. Understatement, however, is relative when you’re talking about a 911 that only 90 people in the world can own.

The paint sets the tone. A bespoke metallic green inspired by the Oak Green finish on F.A. Porsche’s own 911 gives this car instant collector credibility. Inside, the details get even more personal. The seat fabric takes inspiration from F.A.’s favourite sport coat, there’s unique badging and buyers also receive a matching Chronograph 1 watch and a Porsche Design weekend bag. Because of course they do.

Mechanically, nothing changes, and that’s very much the point. The naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat six still produces 502bhp and sings all the way to 9000 rpm. Torque is unchanged too, at 469Nm, delivered without turbos, filters or drama. It remains one of the last great high-revving engines you can still buy new.

Production will begin around mid-2026, but every customer will go through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch personalisation programme before their car is built. Total production is capped at 90 units globally, with one reserved for Mark Porsche, F.A.’s son.
