MG Windsor Pro Launched at ₹12.49 Lakh

MG Motor India has quietly given its Windsor EV a grown-up sibling. Called the Windsor Pro, it comes with a longer range, a longer list of features, and just enough visual garnish to signal its status. Bookings begin May 8, and prices start at ₹12.49 lakh (without the battery, mind you).

Let’s take a closer look. Not too close, though, it’s still an MG.

What’s Different, Then?

From the outside, not a whole lot. But if you’ve spent enough time around Windsors to recognise wheel designs in your sleep, you’ll notice the new 18-inch dual-tone alloys. The Pro trim also gets fresh paint options: Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, and Glaze Red. Plus, there’s an ADAS badge on the back, which is always reassuring.

Inside the Windsor Pro

The cabin continues its minimalist theme but upgrades to a dual-tone ivory interior. It’s airy, tidy, and comes with MG’s usual buffet of screens and switches. There’s a 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, and ventilated front seats for those who run warm.

The rear seats recline to 135 degrees, which sounds precise because it is. More importantly, it’s comfortable.

More Battery, More Kilometres

The biggest change is under the floor. The Windsor Pro now carries a 52.9 kWh battery, which extends its MIDC-claimed range to 449 km. That’s 118 km more than the standard Windsor, which tops out at 331 km. Not bad for a car that looks like it would rather be in a shopping mall than on an expressway.

For the curious:

  • Essence: 38 kWh battery, 331 km range

  • Essence Pro: 52.9 kWh battery, 449 km range

Tech That’s Actually Useful

The Pro trim introduces Level 2 ADAS, including lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking. It also comes with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.

You can now plug in a coffee machine while charging someone else’s car. Progress.

Also new is a powered tailgate, because nothing says premium like a boot that opens itself.

What’s the Catch? Well, It’s Complicated

MG offers the Windsor Pro under two pricing schemes. One includes the battery, the other doesn’t. Instead, you lease it, which reduces the upfront cost but adds a pay-per-kilometre rate.

Variant Price with BaaS Price without BaaS
Excite ₹10 lakh + ₹3.9/km ₹14 lakh
Exclusive ₹11 lakh + ₹3.9/km ₹15 lakh
Essence ₹12 lakh + ₹3.9/km ₹16 lakh
Essence Pro ₹12.49 lakh + ₹4.5/km ₹17.49 lakh

The launch price of ₹17.49 lakh (with battery) is limited to the first 8,000 bookings. After that, things may escalate.

Should You Care?

Yes, if you're an EV-curious family buyer or even a fleet operator looking for comfort and range in equal measure. With 449 km on tap, an interior full of gizmos, and a flexible ownership model, the Windsor Pro covers more ground than most would expect at this price.
