Hold onto your hats (or charge cables), because MG’s much-anticipated electric sports car, the Cyberster, is hurtling toward its January 2025 launch.
Here’s everything we know so far, updated with the latest details:
Powertrain & Performance
The Cyberster’s 77kWh battery pack, with a 110mm thickness, powers two oil-cooled motors on each axle for an all-wheel-drive setup. It brags 508bhp and 725Nm, enabling a 3.2-second sprint to 100 kmph. While MG hasn’t yet confirmed the RWD version for India, it may arrive later based on market demand.
The Cyberster is engineered for precision with a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link independent rear suspension, ensuring enhanced traction and stability at high speeds.
Design: Retro Meets Futuristic
Paying homage to the 1960s MG B Roadster, the Cyberster is a modern two-seater roadster with a soft-top roof and a sporty stance. The EV debuts scissor doors (yes, like a supercar!) equipped with dual radar sensors and an anti-pinch mechanism.
Its aggressive rear haunches, bold side skirts, and 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels amplify its road presence. The rear end features a connected LED light strip, arrow-shaped tail lights, and a striking split diffuser.
Interior: Tech Meets Comfort
Inside, the Cyberster combines old-school charm with cutting-edge technology. It features:
- Three Screens: Digital driver’s display, infotainment touchscreen, and vehicle stats monitor.
- Soft-touch Materials: Premium finishes and streaks of ambient lighting.
- Physical Controls: A welcome break from overly touchscreen-reliant interiors.
Retail Experience: MG Select
The Cyberster will be sold via MG Select, a new premium retail channel focused on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). MG Select outlets will initially feature four new products, including the Cyberster and the upcoming Mifa 9 MPV, showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo.
- MG Select Highlights:
- Dedicated to EVs, PHEVs, and hybrids.
- Standalone facilities with workshops.
- Plans for 12 experience centres across India in Phase 1, with further expansion into Tier 2 cities.
Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer, stated that MG Select will focus on entry-luxury models, offering unique products, pricing, and customer experiences distinct from MG’s mainstream channel.
