Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition: The Finale

Mahindra has introduced the XUV700 Ebony Edition in India, catering to enthusiasts who appreciate a more refined, almost all-black aesthetic. Priced between Rs 19.64 lakh and Rs 24.14 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Ebony Edition brings subtle changes to both the exterior and interior, ensuring that it stands out while staying true to the XUV700’s legacy.

Pricing and Variants: A Modest Premium for Distinctive Styling

The Ebony Edition is available exclusively in the AX7 and AX7 L variants, with a price increase of approximately Rs 15,000 over the standard versions. Here’s a quick look at the pricing:

Variant Petrol-MT Petrol-AT Diesel-MT Diesel-AT
AX7 19.64 lakh 21.14 lakh 20.14 lakh 21.79 lakh
AX7 L - 23.34 lakh 22.39 lakh 24.14 lakh

In terms of powertrains, the XUV700 Ebony retains the tried-and-tested options:

  • A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 200 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.
  • A 2.2-litre diesel unit produces 185 bhp and an impressive 450 Nm of torque.

Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, although the Ebony Edition is available only in front-wheel-drive (FWD) and 7-seat configuration.

Exterior:

The XUV700 Ebony Edition introduces a new paint shade called Stealth Black, giving the SUV an imposing yet sophisticated stance. To maintain a dynamic visual balance, Mahindra has added silver scuff plates on the front and rear bumpers, offering a tasteful contrast. The 18-inch alloy wheels are finished in gloss black, maintaining continuity with the overall theme.

Adding to the exclusivity, the Ebony Edition features Ebony badges on the front fenders and tailgate, marking its distinctive identity. With this addition, the XUV700 is now available in eight monotone and five dual-tone colour options, ensuring ample choice for prospective buyers.

Interior:

Inside the cabin, Mahindra has continued the dark theme by introducing black leatherette upholstery with white stitching and a darker finish on the dashboard and door panels. However, to ensure the cabin remains airy and welcoming, the brand has introduced a light grey roof liner as a prominent contrast.

Other subtle contrasting elements include silver accents on the steering wheel and dashboard, along with dark chrome highlights on the steering-mounted controls and the gear console, giving the interior a refined and polished look.

Features and Safety:

The XUV700 Ebony Edition retains the extensive feature set and safety suite from the AX7 and AX7 L variants. Key highlights include:

  • Level 2 ADAS suite with adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
  • 6-way powered driver’s seat with memory function.
  • Dual-zone climate control, auto headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.
  • The AX7 L variant further adds premium features such as:
    • Blind spot monitor and a 360-degree camera.
    • Ventilated front seats and a 12-speaker premium sound system.
    • Electronic parking brake and rear LED sequential turn indicators.

Additionally, Mahindra has introduced a rear seat belt reminder as a standard feature across all XUV700 variants, underscoring its commitment to safety.
