Mahindra has launched the XEV 9e Cineluxe at Rs 29.35 lakh ex-showroom, positioning it as the range-topping version of its electric SUV. It combines a 79kWh battery with a Rear Wheel Drive motor producing 282bhp and 380Nm. Claimed MIDC range stands at 656km.
Power and range
The rear-mounted motor delivers 282bhp and 380Nm. Drive modes include Default, Range, Everyday, Race and Custom. There is also a single pedal drive with adjustable regeneration levels. Charging is equally competitive. Using a 180kW DC fast charger, 20 to 80 percent can be achieved in 20 minutes. With an 11.2 kW AC wall charger, a full charge takes about 8 hours. Ground clearance is rated at 207 mm and the turning circle is 10 metres. Suspension uses a strut setup at the front and a five-link rear arrangement with adaptive damping.
A cinema on wheels
Inside, the Cineluxe gets three 12.3-inch screens laid out across the dashboard. Audio duties are handled by a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos. Ambient lighting offers 16 million colour options and extends into the fixed glass roof. There is also an augmented reality head-up display, built-in voice assistant support, 5G connectivity and a large suite of in-car apps. Comfort features include ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat with memory, dual zone climate control and a powered tailgate.
Safety and assistance
The safety kit includes seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag. The Level 2 plus ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection, highway assist, and automatic emergency braking. A 360-degree camera and driver monitoring system are also part of the package.
Space and practicality
The XEV 9e measures 4,789 mm in length with a 2,775 mm wheelbase. Boot capacity stands at 663 litres, along with a 150-litre front trunk. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
The bottom line
At Rs 29.35 lakh, the XEV 9e Cineluxe offers long range, strong performance and a feature-heavy cabin. A 282 bhp rear wheel drive electric SUV with adaptive suspension and triple screens is not a modest proposition. Now the focus shifts to how it performs in the real world and whether buyers are ready for this level of tech at this price.
