The Mahindra Scorpio-N remains one of the few true body-on-frame SUVs on sale in India. Introduced in 2022, the SUV was beginning to show its age in certain areas, especially when compared to newer rivals. Addressing this, Mahindra has now launched the updated Scorpio-N in India, with prices starting at ₹13.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The refreshed SUV gets a host of upgrades, including newly designed alloy wheels, larger infotainment and driver’s displays, a 540-degree camera system, and a panoramic sunroof. Exterior
Things remain similar on the outside. It gets the same six-slat grill, led headlights, c shaped LED DRLs, sculpted front bumper and a silver skid plate upfront. In the profile it gets new 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with square-off wheel arches. At the rear it gets vertically stacked LED taillamps. The Scorpio-N is offered in five different colours: Oceanic, Deep forest, Everest White, Stealth Black and Galaxy Grey.
Interior and features
On the inside the first thing you notice is an all-new infotainment screen. The Scorpio-N gets a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 10.3-inch driver's display. Overall the dashboard design remains the same. It gets new features like a 540 degree camera, panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Sony audio system, ventilated seats and 6-way powered driver's seat.
Powertrain
The Mahindra Scorpio-N continues to be offered with two engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine develops 200hp and 370Nm of torque with the manual gearbox, while the automatic version produces 380Nm of torque. Buyers can also opt for the 2.2-litre diesel engine, which churns out 172hp and 370Nm of torque with the manual transmission, and 400Nm with the automatic. Depending on the variant, the Scorpio-N is available with either a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or four-wheel-drive (4WD) drivetrain.
Pricing and market positioningThe Mahindra Scorpio-N is priced from ₹13.69 lakh (ex-showroom), with the range topping out at ₹25.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the fully-loaded Z8L Diesel 4WD variant. As the only ladder-frame SUV in its segment, the Scorpio-N offers a distinct proposition for buyers looking for genuine off-road capability. It competes with rivals such as the Tata Safari, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Hyundai Alcazar.
