Lotus has introduced two new models to the Indian market, marking a significant expansion of its portfolio. The Emira, the brand's final internal combustion engine (ICE) offering and the all-electric Emeya were launched with price tags of ₹3.2 crores and ₹2.3crorese respectively (ex-showroom).
The Emira is a two-door sports car, while the Emeya is an electric roadster. These launches precede the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, presenting car enthusiasts with distinct choices across ICE and EV platforms.
Lotus Emira
The Lotus Emira is available in three variants: Emira Turbo, Turbo SE, and V6. It is designed to combine performance with a striking visual appeal and features a design inspired by the Lotus Evija hypercar.
Exterior Design
The Emira features vertically oriented twin-blade headlights and 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. The rear design incorporates horizontal LED tail lights and twin exhaust tips. Paint options include Vivid Red for the V6 and Turbo variants, while the Turbo SE is offered in Zine Grey.
Interior Features
The cabin has a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional features include a 10-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, ADAS, and optional front parking sensors. Electrically adjustable 12-way sports seats are also available.
Engine and Performance
The Emira offers two engine configurations:
- A 3.5-litre supercharged V6 with 406 bhp and 420 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
- A 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four producing up to 406 bhp and 480 Nm, equipped with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Performance metrics include a 0-100 km/h time of 4.0-4.4 seconds, depending on the variant, and a top speed of 290 km/h.
Lotus Emeya
The Emeya is an electric roadster with three trims: Emeya, Emeya S, and Emeya R. It combines modern design with advanced electric powertrain technology.
Exterior Design
Key exterior elements include sleek horizontal LED headlights, flush door handles, and connected LED taillights. Blacked-out accents complement the coupe-like profile.
Interior Features
The cabin features a 15.1-inch central display, a 55-inch heads-up display, and multi-colour ambient lighting. Other features include a 15-speaker audio system, a 360-degree camera, and wireless phone charging. Carbon fibre accents are used extensively throughout the interior.
Battery and Performance
The Emeya has a 102 kWh battery pack and offers a range of 610 km (WLTP). The Emeya R variant produces 918 bhp and 675 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h. Its fast charging capability allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 14 minutes.
The Emira competes with the Porsche 911, while the Emeya is positioned against the Audi RS e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. Bookings and test drives for both models are now open.
