Hyundai Staria Showcased at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Hyundai has introduced the Staria MPV to Indian audiences at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in Delhi. Sharing the stage with the new Creta Electric and Ioniq 9, the Staria offers visitors a glimpse of Hyundai’s futuristic design philosophy. While the Staria has been available in global markets since 2021, its Indian debut appears distant.

The Staria is built on the same platform as the Kia Carnival but is designed to be a more cost-effective alternative to its premium sibling. Here’s a detailed look at the Staria’s design, features, and specifications.

Exterior:

The Hyundai Staria’s design departs from traditional MPVs, featuring a futuristic aesthetic resembling a spaceship. Up front, a sloping nose leads to a rectangular grille with distinctive T-shaped inserts. Vertically stacked headlights flank the grille, while a sleek, connected light bar sits just above the Hyundai logo, adding a touch of modernity.

The side profile is streamlined, reminiscent of a bullet. It features sliding doors for easy access to the second row and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear design is minimalistic, with vertically stacked LED taillights incorporating pixelated lighting elements for a striking visual effect.

Interior and Features:

Inside, the Hyundai Staria prioritizes comfort and technology. Key features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 4.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and Hyundai’s connected car technology. Dual-zone climate control and 64-colour ambient lighting enhance the cabin’s premium feel.

Comfort-oriented amenities include an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated and heated seats for the first and second rows and a wireless phone charger. Other notable features include a 12-speaker Bose sound system, paddle shifters, push-button start/stop, and an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror (IRVM).

Safety Features

The Hyundai Staria comes with six airbags. It also features advanced safety systems, such as a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)—an electronic parking brake with auto hold that enhances safety and convenience.

Powertrain Options

Globally, the Hyundai Staria is offered with multiple powertrain options:

  • 2.2-litre diesel engine: Producing 175.7 bhp and 431 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed or 8-speed automatic transmission.
  • 3.5-litre petrol engine: Generating 268.7 bhp and 331 Nm of torque.

The Staria is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations in international markets.

Price and Market Position

Should Hyundai decide to launch the Staria in India, it is expected to be priced around ₹60 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a premium MPV, it could rival the Kia Carnival, which has enjoyed a relatively unchallenged run in the segment.
