Heritage Customs Defender Pickup

Last year we spotted digital renders of a mad idea - a Defender 130 turned into a pickup. Well, it’s no longer a flight of Photoshop fancy. The Heritage Customs Valiance Pickup, now called the Heritage Edition, exists in the real world, and it looks every bit as cool as promised.

It starts life as a Defender 130 X Dynamic SE, before losing part of its roof and gaining a smartly sculpted bed out back. Under the bonnet sits a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 good for 419bhp and 625Nm. That’s plenty to make gravel fly, and enough to make any sensible dog rethink riding in the back.

The look stays close to the earlier renderings — “authentically classic,” as the coachbuilder says, but thankfully, the oversized HERITAGE lettering on the tailgate has been binned. Sadly, the spare wheel on the roof didn’t survive the transition either. Inside, there’s tan upholstery so rich it looks dipped in caramel. You can pick any colour you like, but trust us, you’ll want the tan.

There’s more. A collaboration with Urban Automotive has spawned the Urban Edition, and while we’ve only seen renders, this one’s clearly going for intimidation. A roof-mounted lightstrip means it’ll light up a dark alley — and anyone standing in it. Expect its first real-world appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2026.

Pricing? None yet, but last year’s guidance pegged the conversion at around ₹1.4 crore before taxes. That’s a hefty sum, but then again, how often do you see a Defender pickup with supercharged lungs and bespoke British swagger?
