BMW M2 CS launched in India at ₹1.66 crore

BMW has launched the highly anticipated M2 CS in India at a price of ₹1.66 crore ex‑showroom, bringing one of the most extreme compact sports cars ever made to the Indian market. The M2 CS takes the regular M2’s capabilities and pushes them further, blending strong power, sharper handling and focused design into a car aimed at driving enthusiasts who want both everyday usability and high‑speed performance.

Most Powerful M2 Yet

At the heart of the M2 CS is an upgraded version of BMW’s 3‑litre twin‑turbo straight‑six petrol engine that now produces 523 bhp and 650Nm of torque, figures similar to BMW’s larger performance cars. This makes it the most powerful rear‑wheel‑drive M2 ever built. The engine uses advanced technology to handle the higher output reliably, including enhanced turbocharging and strengthened internal components. Power is sent only to the rear wheels through an eight‑speed automatic transmission, and the car covers 0 to 100 kmph in around 3.8 seconds, with a top speed limited to 302kmph.

Sharper Handling and Track Focus

BMW has revised the chassis and suspension to give the M2 CS more precision and control. The car sits roughly 8 mm lower than the standard M2 and has unique springs, dampers, steering calibration and revised stability systems to match its performance potential. Options such as carbon‑ceramic brakes and ten different traction control settings are offered to support spirited driving, and there is even a Drift Analyser mode for those who want to explore the car’s limits on closed courses.

Lightweight Engineering and Design

To improve agility, the M2 CS uses lightweight materials in many areas. The roof and boot lid with an integrated ducktail spoiler are made from carbon fibre, helping reduce overall weight by around 30 kg compared with the automatic M2. Other weight‑saving touches include a carbon diffuser and forged wheels finished in matte Gold Bronze, adding to the car’s purposeful stance. While still retaining rear seats, the car feels more compact and tuned for performance than most others in its class.

Interior and Usability

Inside, the M2 CS blends performance‑focused elements with everyday usability. The cabin features heated bucket seats and a carbon‑fibre centre console, along with BMW’s latest curved digital display system. Materials like Alcantara and specialised trims emphasise sportiness without sacrificing comfort, making the car easy to drive both on normal roads and more demanding environments.

Record‑Setting Performance

Highlighting its capability, the new M2 CS has also set a remarkable lap time on the Nürburgring‑Nordschleife circuit, completing a full lap in 7 minutes 25.5 seconds, faster than its rivals and significantly quicker than the standard M2. This makes it one of the fastest compact cars ever around the legendary German track, underlining its blend of power and handling prowess.
