Audi has unveiled its latest E7X SUV at Auto China 2026 in Beijing. This is the second model built in collaboration between Audi and the Chinese company SAIC. It is built on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), and it gets bold exteriors and tech-laden interiors. It will be a ground-up electric vehicle and will be launched in China in the coming months.
How many lights do you need?
Audi is known for its reserved designs, but the E7X is a departure from that design language. On the front, it gets a signature Audi light frame featuring 1000 individual triangular light elements, illuminated Audi logo, LED matrix headlamps, and a tall bonnet. On the side, it has flared wheel arches and a tall shoulder line to give it that classic SUV silhouette, and it also gets new diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the rear, it gets a similar light frame design with slim connected taillights and an illuminated Audi logo.
Battery and powertrain
The Audi E7X is built around a 900-volt electric architecture with two battery pack options: a 100kWh base variant and a 109kWh long-range variant, with the bigger battery pack having a claimed CLTC range of 750km. The larger battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent SOC in just 13 minutes with the help of a DC fast charger.
It is offered in two powertrain options, the rear-wheel-drive version gets 402bhp and 500Nm of torque, while the Quattro all-wheel-drive version gets 670bhp and 800Nm of torque. The Quattro all-wheel-drive version can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.9 seconds.
Interiors
On the inside, it gets Audi's 27-inch panoramic display as an infotainment screen, along with Audi assistant 2.0, which is an AI assistant for the vehicles functions. It is offered in either a five-seater or a four-seater version with captain seats at the rear. Other features include a 26-speaker Bose sound system, a 21.4-inch rear infotainment screen, a panoramic glass roof, and zero gravity seating for the four-seater version. It also gets a special lidar-based Audi 360 driving assist system, co-developed with Momenta, tailored specifically for the Chinese market, along with a variety of parking assist features, including memory-based auto park.
Pricing and availability
Audi has yet to announce the prices for the E7X, but they are expected to be revealed in the coming months, with the launch scheduled for Q3 2026. Its main competitors will be the Porsche Macan Electric and the Xiaomi YU7 electric SUVs.
