2026 Tata Punch EV launched at ₹9.69 lakh: Gets More Range, More Tech and Revised Styling

Tata Motors has launched the updated Tata Punch EV at a starting price of ₹9.69 lakh, bringing significant upgrades to styling, technology, battery options and real-world usability. BaaS prices start at ₹6.49 lakh + battery EMI of ₹2.6km per month. With stronger range figures and feature additions, the refreshed Punch EV aims to strengthen its position in the fast-growing entry-level electric SUV segment.

Cleaner, Sharper Exterior Design

The updated Punch EV sports a revised front fascia with a cleaner and more contemporary look. The lightbar seen earlier has been omitted, giving the nose a simpler appearance, while updated scuff plates add a rugged touch. New 16-inch alloy wheels further enhance its stance. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps give the compact SUV a wider visual presence, complemented by a refreshed rear bumper design. The overall styling retains the Punch’s tough, upright proportions but now feels more polished and modern.

Despite being a compact SUV, the Punch EV maintains impressive practicality credentials. It offers 195mm of ground clearance, helping it tackle rough patches and speed breakers with ease. The water wading capacity stands at 450mm, enhancing confidence during heavy monsoons or waterlogged urban streets.

Two Battery Options, Improved Real-World Range

One of the biggest highlights of the updated Punch EV is its improved battery and range package. It now gets a larger 40kWh battery (5kWh bigger than before) that delivers an ARAI-certified range of 468km. In real-world driving conditions, owners can expect around 355km — a strong and usable figure for daily city commutes as well as occasional highway drives. This battery is connected to a single-motor on the front axle making 127bhp, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in under 9 seconds, making it one of the quickest options in its category.

For buyers looking at a more affordable option, the smaller battery (now 30kWh, which is also 5kWh bigger than before) offers a claimed ARAI range of 365km. Realistically, this translates to approximately 265km to 280km, depending on driving style and conditions. This makes it well suited for urban users who prioritise efficiency and value.

Faster Charging, Better Convenience

Charging flexibility has also improved. The Punch EV now supports 65kW DC fast charging, enabling a 20 to 80 per cent charge in just 26 minutes. In practical terms, it can add up to 135km of range in just 15 minutes — a major advantage for quick top-ups during busy schedules. In addition to fast charging, the SUV supports a 7.2kW wallbox charger for home installation, as well as a standard 3.3kW home charging option. This ensures compatibility across different charging setups, giving buyers more convenience and peace of mind.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, Tata has introduced several premium updates to elevate the cabin experience. The Punch EV continues to offer a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a modern two-spoke illuminated steering wheel, and a rotary drive selector that adds a futuristic touch. Comfort has been enhanced with ventilated leatherette front seats — a rare feature in this segment — making summer drives far more comfortable. Wireless charging further improves convenience, reducing cable clutter inside the cabin. The overall interior design now feels more upmarket, aligning better with evolving customer expectations in the electric vehicle space.

Lifetime Warranty on 40kWh Variant

A standout addition is the lifetime warranty with unlimited kilometres for the first owner on the 40kWh variants. This move significantly boosts long-term ownership confidence and reduces concerns around battery longevity — a key consideration for EV buyers.

With stronger real-world range figures, improved fast-charging capability, enhanced technology, premium comfort features and practical SUV credentials, the updated Tata Punch EV makes a compelling case for itself. The combination of usable range (especially the 355km real-world figure on the 40kWh variant), quick acceleration, modern features and a lifetime battery warranty positions it as a strong contender in the entry-level electric SUV segment.

At ₹9.69 lakh, the refreshed Punch EV appears better equipped than ever before. For buyers seeking a compact electric SUV that blends practicality, performance and premium touches without stretching the budget, the new Punch EV may well be the most complete package currently on sale in its class.
