2026 Ford Mustang FX Package: A Nod to the Iconic Fox Body Era

Ford is set to introduce a wave of nostalgia with the 2026 Mustang, unveiling a brand-new FX package that pays homage to the beloved third-generation Mustang, widely known as the Fox body. This exciting new appearance option, exclusively available with the powerful 5.0-litre V-8 engine, draws inspiration from the distinctive design cues of the 1980s and 1990s Mustangs, promising a blend of retro charm and modern performance.
The most striking feature of the FX package is undoubtedly the return of white wheels. While the original Fox bodies featured smaller wheels, the 2026 Mustang FX will sport prominent 19-inch Oxford White wheels. Customers opting for the Performance package will receive a more intricate five-spoke design, adding an extra layer of visual flair. Complementing the white wheels, the Mustang's signature nostril-like grille elements will also be painted white when paired with the Performance package, creating a cohesive and eye-catching aesthetic. For those seeking a truly authentic throwback, a new paint option called Adriatic Blue Metallic will be available, closely mirroring the iconic teal colour that adorned many Fox body Mustangs.
Beyond the wheels and paint, the FX package meticulously incorporates several subtle yet impactful design elements. The exterior emblems, including the "5.0" badge on the front fenders, will feature white outlines, and the rear taillights will receive white accents, available through the Ford Performance parts catalogue. A particularly delightful detail for enthusiasts is the use of retro-inspired font, reminiscent of the '80s and '90s models, appearing on the wheel centre caps and above the rear window.

The interior of the FX-equipped Mustang continues the nostalgic theme with plaid seat inserts, a direct callback to the classic Fox body cabins. These plaid accents will be integrated into both the standard perforated leather seats and the optional Recaro buckets, ensuring that coupe owners can enjoy this retro touch regardless of their seating preference. The cabin's detailing extends to City Silver and Adriatic Blue contrast stitching, adding a refined yet sporty feel. A "Mustang GT" badge on the right side of the instrument panel, designed to mimic the Fox-body style and backed by the same trim found in the 493.16bhp Mustang Dark Horse, further solidifies the package's tribute to its heritage.

While pricing for the FX package remains undisclosed, Ford has confirmed its compatibility with the GT Premium trim for both coupe and convertible models. This means the robust 480-plus-horsepower 5.0-litre V-8 is a standard inclusion, offering buyers the choice between a six-speed manual transmission or an available 10-speed automatic. Prospective buyers can anticipate learning the full pricing details for the 2026 Mustang lineup, including the FX package, in the coming weeks, as order books are slated to open later this month. This new FX package is poised to be a significant draw for long-time Mustang enthusiasts and a stylish entry point for new fans looking for a blend of classic appeal and modern performance.
