Due to rising demand for premium motorcycles in India, Yamaha has announced a significant price reduction of up to Rs 1.10 lakh on its flagship models, the Yamaha R3 and MT-03, effective February 1, 2025. This move comes as Yamaha celebrates ten years of the R3 globally, reaffirming its commitment to offering premium motorcycles at more accessible prices.
New Prices for Yamaha R3 & MT-03
The updated price for the Yamaha R3 will be Rs 3,59,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be available in two colours: Icon Blue and Yamaha Black. The Yamaha MT-03 will now be priced at Rs 3,49,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be available in Midnight Cyan and Midnight Black colours. This price revision is expected to boost Yamaha’s presence in India’s premium motorcycle market, catering to more riders at a more affordable price point.
Yamaha R3 and MT-03
The Yamaha R3 is an iconic motorcycle worldwide, known for its ballistic power and iconic design. The MT-03 offers an extremely similar package for those who prefer aggressive styling and upright riding position for rider comfort.
Both motorcycles are powered by a 321cc 2-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and produces a peak power output of 41.4 bhp at 10,750 rpm and 29.5 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm.
Too Little Too Late?
Yamaha R3 has had a cult-like following in India, but with the introduction of the KTM 390s and the TVS Apache RR 310s, the Indian market has evolved. The Yamaha will be undercutting the Aprilia RS 457 and the Tuono 457, but will that be enough to reignite people's love for the iconic Yamaha R3 and its naked sibling MT-03, or is it too little too late for that now?
