Yamaha EC-06 launched in India at ₹1.67 lakh

Yamaha took the wraps off their electric scooters for India the EC-06 and Aerox E in November 2025 and now the brand has finally launched its first electric scooter for India which is called the EC-06 which shares its underpinnings with the River Indie electric scooter. However the EC-06 has been priced at ₹1.68 lakh (ex-showroom) which is ₹22,000 more than the River Indie. Here is everything you need to know about the Yamaha EC-06.

Design and chassis

The Yamaha EC-06 shares its chassis and core underpinnings with the River Indie, but Yamaha has given it a noticeably sportier twist through a sharper and more aggressive design language. Up front, the EC-6 ditches the Indie’s dual-pod setup for a single-pod LED headlamp, giving the scooter a cleaner and more focused face. The body panels are more angular and sculpted, adding to the sporty stance and making the EC-06 look more dynamic in comparison.The Yamaha EC-06 gets 14 inch wheels with disc brakes both at the front and the rear, same as the River Indie. To maintain a sleeker silhouette, Yamaha EC-06 gets 24.5-litre of underseat storage which is 18.5-litre less than the River Indie and the EC-06 also misses out on a front storage compartment which indicates that Yamaha has prioritised style and compact proportions over outright practicality. The Yamaha EC-06 weighs 132kg which is 3kg less than the River Indie.

Battery and Powertrain

The Yamaha EC-06 is powered by a 4kWh battery pack same as the River Indie. Yamaha claims that it can provide an IDC-claimed range of 169km which is 7km more than the River Indie. Charging duties are handled by a 480W charger which can charge the EC-06 from 0-80 per cent in 8 hours. It gets a IPMSM motor which produces 6.7kW of peak power and 26Nm of torque which is the same as the River Indie, the EC-06 has a top speed of 79kmph which is 11kmph lower than the River Indie. Yamaha is providing a 3 year or a 30,000km warranty with the EC-06.

Features and rider-aids

In terms of features and rider aids, the Yamaha EC-06 gets an LCD display which provides all the information about speed, riding modes and battery status. It gets 3 riding modes – Eco, Standard and Power and a dedicated reverse mode. It gets all led lighting and It also gets bluetooth connectivity via the Yamaha R connect app. Yamaha is currently providing a free subscription of the Yamaha R connect app worth ₹999 to the first 500 customers.

Pricing

The Yamaha EC-06 has been priced at ₹1.67 lakh (ex-showroom) which puts it on the higher end of the spectrum than its rivals and it is priced ₹22,000 more than the River Indie which offers similar specifications and more practicality.  It will compete with the likes of Ather Rizta, Bajaj Chetak, Simple One gen 2, Hero Vida V2 Pro and Suzuki e-access.
