The highly anticipated Aprilia Tuono 457 will launch in India on the 17th and 18th of February, a two-day event. The teaser shows what very much looks like the Tuono 457, the naked sibling of the Aprilia RS 457. The RS 457 has rekindled our love for gorgeous sportbikes, which started fading in the wake of the recent uprising in ADV fever.
What is the Tuono 457?
The Tuono 457 sets itself apart from its larger siblings with notable differences in design and practicality. It features a completely distinct headlight design, giving it a unique identity, and a slightly smaller fuel tank capacity of 12.7 litres compared to the RS 457’s 13-litre tank. The Tuono gets traditional handlebars rather than the clip-ons from RS. Despite these differences, both motorcycles share the same kerb weight of 175 kg, ensuring a balanced and agile ride.
Mechanically, the Tuono 457 is powered by the same potent 457cc parallel-twin engine as the RS 457, delivering an impressive 47 bhp and 43.5 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, a slip-and-assist clutch, and an optional bi-directional quick shifter for seamless gear changes and enhanced performance.
The Tuono 457 also comes equipped with the advanced electronics suite from the RS 457, which includes a vibrant 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, three riding modes, and adjustable traction control, ABS, and throttle response. These features ensure a versatile and tech-forward riding experience.
Offered in two striking colours, red and grey, the Tuono 457 combines Aprilia’s signature performance with a naked streetfighter design.
The Tuono 457 will compete with the likes of KTM 390 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 310 and Yamaha R3. The bike is expected to launch around the 4 lakh mark. The RS 457 was a success story for Aprilia, and the Tuono 457 seems no different.
