Royal Enfield Bear 650 Launched

The all-new Bear 650, a scrambler-style motorcycle suited for challenging routes and urban streets, adds to Royal Enfield's 650cc roster. Unveiled at EICMA 2024, this new addition to the scrambler sector offers devotees a retro-modern motorcycle with a storied pedigree.

Power and Performance

The Bear 650 shares its platform with the Interceptor 650, including the 648cc parallel-twin engine, but with a twist. It produces a punchy 56.5Nm of torque—a boost of 4Nm over the Interceptor—offering a bit more muscle, particularly beneficial on rough terrains. This scrambler also sheds 2kg, thanks to its efficient two-in-one exhaust system, enhancing handling and acceleration for agile performance in theory.

Design

The Bear 650 has 184mm of ground clearance as a scrambler, making it the tallest Royal Enfield in the 650cc category. It has a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel and is designed for confident riding over uneven terrain, giving riders greater stability off the usual route.

The Bear 650 features the first TFT display in RE's 650cc portfolio, adding current technology to the model. This digital display, which can also be seen on the 2017 Himalayan, provides real-time statistics to keep riders informed and engaged when navigating city streets or exploring trails.

Heritage

True to Royal Enfield’s legacy, the Bear 650’s name pays homage to motorcycle racing history. It’s a nod to Eddie Mulder, who famously won the 1960 Big Bear Run desert race, symbolizing the brand’s spirit of endurance and adventure.

Colour Options and Pricing

The Bear 650 is available in five distinct colour schemes, each priced based on its finish:

  • Boardwalk White – Rs 3.39 lakh
  • Petrol Green – Rs 3.44 lakh
  • Wild Honey – Rs 3.44 lakh
  • Golden Shadow – Rs 3.51 lakh
  • Two Four Nine – Rs 3.59 lakh

Starting at Rs 3.39 lakh and going to Rs 3.59 lakh, these options let riders select a finish that suits their style while remaining competitively priced for a scrambler in this market.

Royal Enfield's first scrambler in the 650cc sector, the Bear 650, competes with the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½. With its increased torque, lighter frame, and RE's classic yet retro design style, the Bear 650 hopes to carve out its place among scrambler fans. With bookings beginning on November 10, 2024, this new release will likely attract riders seeking adventure with a touch of heritage.
