Meet India’s first E85-compliant scooter, the Honda ADV 160, now launched in India at ₹1.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). It will be sold through Honda RedWing and BigWing dealerships. With its rugged styling, practical storage and a powerful 160cc-class engine, the ADV 160 is aimed at riders looking for a scooter that can handle both city commutes and occasional rough roads.
Design
The ADV 160 gets an adventure-inspired maxi-scooter design, with a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel, both shod with dual-purpose tyres. This gives it a more rugged and purposeful stance compared to other maxi-scooters in its segment. It gets a tall windscreen, split LED headlamps, and 27 litres of underseat storage, which is the largest in its segment. The ADV 160 gets an 8.1-litre fuel tank and has a kerb weight of 134kg.
Engine
The Honda ADV 160 is powered by a 156.93cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 16hp at 8500rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 6500rpm, making it the most powerful scooter in its segment. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT transmission. One of the key highlights of the ADV 160 is that it is India’s first E85-compliant scooter.
Features and Rider-aids
In terms of features, the ADV 160 gets a 5-inch TFT display with Honda RoadSync connectivity. This enables smartphone integration along with turn-by-turn navigation. In terms of rider aids, it gets single-channel ABS and Honda selectable torque control (HSTC).
Pricing and Market Positioning
The Honda ADV 160 will rival the Yamaha Aerox, Hero Xoom 160 and Aprilia SXR 160. The Honda ADV 160 has been priced at ₹1.70 lakh (ex-showroom), which sets it at the higher end of the spectrum, thus making it the costliest scooter of this segment.
