Harley-Davidson brings two CVO bikes to India

Harley-Davidson has expanded its premium motorcycle presence in India with the launch of its Custom Vehicle Operations, or CVO, range. The brand has introduced two flagship touring models: the CVO Street Glide and the CVO Road Glide. These motorcycles represent the highest level of finish, equipment and performance currently offered by Harley-Davidson in the Indian market.

Both models are brought to India as fully imported units and are positioned at the very top of Harley-Davidson’s lineup. The CVO Street Glide is priced at ₹63.03 lakh, while the CVO Road Glide carries a higher price tag of ₹67.37 lakh, ex-showroom. These prices place the CVO models among the most expensive motorcycles officially sold in the country.

At the heart of both motorcycles is Harley-Davidson’s Milwaukee-Eight 121 engine. This large 1,982cc V-twin motor which makes 113bhp and 183Nm is designed for long-distance touring and delivers strong low-end pulling power. The engine is paired with a six-speed transmission and tuned to offer smooth cruising on highways, which remains the primary focus of these motorcycles.

While the Street Glide and Road Glide share the same engine and core components, the difference lies mainly in their front fairing designs. The CVO Street Glide features a frame-mounted fairing, while the CVO Road Glide uses a frame-mounted shark-nose style fairing. This results in slightly different riding experiences, particularly at higher speeds and during long rides.

One of the standout features on both models is the large 12.3-inch colour touchscreen display. This screen runs Harley-Davidson’s SkyLine operating system and integrates navigation, music controls and ride information into a single interface. The display is designed to remain clear and readable in different lighting conditions.

Audio is another key focus of the CVO range. Both motorcycles are equipped with a premium sound system, offering high output speakers integrated into the fairing and side panels. This allows riders to listen to music clearly even at highway speeds.

In terms of safety and rider assistance, the CVO Street Glide and Road Glide come with a comprehensive set of electronic aids. These include anti-lock braking, traction control, cornering support systems, cruise control and hill-hold assist. Together, these systems are designed to support stable riding across varying road and weather conditions.

Visually, the CVO models stand apart through exclusive paint schemes and detailing. Each motorcycle features hand-finished paintwork, unique badges and premium materials that differentiate them from standard Harley-Davidson touring models. The overall design focuses on presence and road-focused touring comfort.

The launch of the CVO range reinforces Harley-Davidson’s strategy of maintaining a strong premium identity in India, alongside more accessible models developed in partnership with Hero MotoCorp. While sales volumes are expected to be limited, the CVO Street Glide and Road Glide serve as halo products that showcase the brand’s capabilities.

With this launch, Harley-Davidson continues to cater to Indian riders seeking large, feature-rich touring motorcycles positioned at the very top end of the market.
