Ducati has unveiled the new Monster Dark, a darker, minimalist version of its middleweight naked motorcycle. Based on the latest Monster, the new variant gets an all-black finish, understated detailing and the same 890cc V2 engine that produces 111hp. The Monster Dark retains the core mechanical package of the standard motorcycle while adopting a more understated visual identity.
Design and Styling
The biggest change on the Ducati Monster Dark is its styling. The motorcycle features a Dark Stealth black finish, complemented by black wheels and a single-material seat. The front frame, snorkel and exhaust end caps feature unpainted finishes, giving the bike a more exposed, mechanical appearance.
The Dark variant retains the Monster's signature design, including its compact proportions, sculpted fuel tank and distinctive front-end styling. A full-LED lighting system with a daytime running light (DRL) completes the look.
Rather than introducing extensive bodywork changes, Ducati has focused on simplifying the motorcycle's appearance, giving the Monster Dark a cleaner and more understated character.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Monster Dark is Ducati's 890cc, 90-degree V2 engine with liquid cooling and an Intake Variable Timing (IVT) system. The engine produces 111hp at 9,000rpm and 91.1Nm of torque at 7,250rpm.
The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and features a slipper and self-servo wet multiplate clutch. Ducati's variable intake valve timing system is designed to optimise engine performance across the rev range.
The motorcycle has a kerb weight of 175kg without fuel, while the seat height stands at 815mm. Riders can also opt for a lower seat that reduces the height to 795mm, with a further reduction to 775mm possible with the low seat and low suspension kit.
Hardware and Electronics
The Ducati Monster Dark uses a monocoque frame, a 43mm Showa upside-down front fork and a rear Showa shock absorber with preload adjustment. Braking duties are handled by Brembo M4.32 calipers, while the motorcycle rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres.
Its electronics package is managed by a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The standard rider aids include cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control and Engine Brake Control.
The motorcycle also features four riding modes: Sport, Road, Urban and Wet. These allow riders to adapt the bike's electronic settings to different riding conditions.
A 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument display provides the main riding information, while full-LED lighting and dynamic turn indicators round out the equipment package.
Ducati Quick Shift, cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation and the Ducati Multimedia System are listed as compatible with the motorcycle, with these features dependent on the relevant optional equipment.
India Launch and Expected Price
Ducati has not announced an official India launch date or pricing for the Monster Dark on the supplied global model page. Its arrival in India and the price it could command in the market remain unconfirmed.
The standard Ducati Monster is already available in India, providing a reference point for the Dark variant.
