Ducati has expanded its off-road motorcycle portfolio in India with the launch of two new models, the Desmo450 MX Factory and the Desmo450 EDX. While the MX Factory is a race-focused motocross motorcycle equipped with premium racing components, the EDX is designed for enduro and cross-country riding.
Both motorcycles are powered by the same 449.6cc single-cylinder, Desmodromic engine and feature Ducati's latest off-road electronics package. Prices start at ₹18.55 lakh (ex-showroom India), and bookings are now open across Ducati dealerships in the country.
Engine and Performance
Powering both the Desmo450 MX Factory and Desmo450 EDX is a 449.6cc, single-cylinder engine featuring Ducati's Desmodromic valve timing system, technology also used in the brand's MotoGP and Superbike racing machines.
The engine produces 63.5hp at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. Ducati claims that 70 per cent of the maximum torque is available from as low as 4,200rpm, helping deliver strong acceleration and improved responsiveness across different riding conditions. The engine has a rev limiter set at 11,900rpm.
Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory
The Desmo450 MX Factory is designed for riders looking for a competition-ready motocross motorcycle. It gets a lightweight aluminium twin-spar perimeter frame and weighs 104kg without fuel.
One of its key highlights is the full titanium Akrapovič exhaust system, which comes with dedicated engine mapping. The motorcycle also features fully adjustable Showa suspension, including 49mm upside-down closed-cartridge front forks with 310mm of travel and a rear monoshock offering 301mm of wheel travel.
The front fork legs and rear shock feature Dark Kashima coating and TiO superfinishing treatment. Other race-spec components include billet Factory triple clamps, a standard holeshot device and a cast aluminium swingarm.
The motorcycle rides on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear Takasago Excel aluminium rims with Alpina spokes, wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres. Braking duties are handled by Brembo components with 260mm front and 240mm rear Galfer discs.
The MX Factory is finished in Ducati Corse 2025 livery and gets a 7.2-litre fuel tank.
Ducati Desmo450 EDX
The Desmo450 EDX is based on the MX platform but receives several changes to make it better suited to enduro and cross-country riding.
Unlike the MX Factory, it gets a larger 8.5-litre fuel tank, along with a specifically designed seat and shrouds. The suspension setup has also been revised for trail riding, with fully adjustable 49mm Showa closed-cartridge front forks featuring a dedicated 4.6 N/mm spring rate and revised valving.
At the rear, it gets a fully adjustable Showa monoshock with a dedicated 44 N/mm spring rate and 301mm of wheel travel.
The EDX rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination, fitted with Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tyres. It also gets standard handguards, a skid plate and a side stand, making it better equipped for tackling demanding trails.
The motorcycle weighs 107.1kg without fuel and is offered in Ducati Red.
Electronics and Features
Both motorcycles receive Ducati's new-generation off-road electronics package, headlined by a closed-loop Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system.
Unlike conventional traction control systems, the DTC uses actual rear-wheel slip measurements to calculate power intervention. It can also automatically detect jumps and temporarily disengage itself. Riders can additionally bypass the system momentarily by pulling the clutch lever.
The electronics package also includes Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Power Launch, Engine Brake Control (EBC), two Power Modes and two Riding Modes. These systems are designed to help riders adapt the motorcycles to varying track and trail conditions.
Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory and EDX: Price in India
The Ducati Desmo450 EDX is priced at ₹18.55 lakh (ex-showroom India), while the more exclusive Desmo450 MX Factory costs ₹21.26 lakh (ex-showroom India).
Bookings for both motorcycles are now open across all Ducati dealerships in India.
An important ownership detail is that Ducati recommends piston replacement and valve clearance checks every 45 hours of operation on both motorcycles.
