BMW first showcased the F 450 GS at EICMA 2024, and the motoring world has eagerly awaited more updates. Recently, BMW teased enthusiasts on social media, saying, “Dreams are coming true soon—prepare for the #ConceptF450GS at the end of the year.”
The F 450 GS is poised to make waves with its adventure-focused design and promising specs. However, it will have been nearly a year since its initial unveiling when it hits the roads.
What We Know So Far
Despite months of testing, we know little about the motorcycle. However, it’s confirmed that the F 450 GS will feature a 450cc twin-cylinder engine producing approximately 47.3 bhp.
The larger R 1300 GS heavily inspires its design language, which is evident in elements like the signature quad DRLs with GS badging at the centre. While the concept version features this setup, the production model will replace it with a standard headlight. Other notable features showcased in the concept include a 6.5-inch TFT display, spoked wheels, and an Akrapovic exhaust. We don’t think the stock motorcycle will get the Akrapovic exhaust.
Manufactured in India? The TVS Connection
Many internet sources suggest that TVS will manufacture the BMW F 450 GS in India for global markets. If true, this collaboration could result in TVS using the same engine platform to develop its own version of the adventure motorcycle. However, this remains speculative, and there’s a possibility that TVS may not release a counterpart model.
Expected Competition
When the BMW F 450 GS arrives in India, it will face competition from the Aprilia Tuareg 457 (a motorcycle we think will be showcased at EICMA 2025), adding excitement to the mid-capacity adventure motorcycle segment. Aprilia has already impressed riders with the RS 457 and Tuono 457, both offering excellent performance and design.
Ultimately, this competition benefits consumers, as more choices mean better options across different price points and preferences. We are sure that adventure motorcycle enthusiasts are in for a win-win situation.
