Bike sales analysis: March 2026

March 2026 turned out to be one of the strongest months for two-wheeler sales in India, with record-high numbers reported by every major manufacturer. Commuters remained the main breadwinners across the board, but major moves were recorded across the EV two-wheeler segment, shattering previous records.

Hero MotoCorp - 5,98,198 units

Hero MotoCorp led the pack in March 2026, with 5,98,198 units sold, recording a modest year-on-year growth of 8 per cent over the same period last year. This growth was backed by scooters in the VIDA Electric range, recording the highest sales since launch. The export market also grew by 16 per cent over last year, with 45,693 units sold. Vehicles like the Hero Splendour and the HF Deluxe range continued to dominate the pie, whilst scooter sales also saw record numbers with 65,815 units sold.

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India - 5,49,145 units

Followed closely in second place, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India sold 5,49,145 units in March 2026. HMSI saw a 29 per cent year-on-year growth as compared to March last year. The domestic market saw steady growth and accounted for most of the sales, with 5,12,303 units sold, while export sales stood at 36,842 units. The major driving force behind the growth remained the commuter motorcycles, with models like the Shine and Unicorn seeing steady growth and new models like the CB125 Hornet joining the pie.

TVS Motor Company - 4,98,134 units

TVS Motor Company reported a total sales figure of 4,98,134 units, which was up 25 per cent from last year. Domestic sales grew by 25 per cent compared to last year, with 3,72,383 units sold, and when it came to the export market, TVS continued to dominate with 1,25,751 units sold. TVS also saw modest growth in the electric two-wheeler market, with the iCube electric scooter continuing to be the best-selling electric two-wheeler in India.

Suzuki Motorcycles India - 1,28,227 units

Suzuki Motorcycles India recorded a modest 2 per cent growth over the same period last year. With 1,28,227 units sold, scooters were the main breadwinners, with the Access and the Burgman contributing to that pie. Export sales stood at 22,830 units, with a year-on-year growth of 12 per cent.

Royal Enfield - 1,12,334 units

Royal Enfield, continuing its strong sales run, sold a total of 1,12,334 units in March 2026, recording a year-on-year growth of 11 per cent over March 2025. Royal Enfield also crossed 1 million sales for the second consecutive year for FY-26, racking total sales numbers of 12.38 lakh units. This growth was highly driven by the 350cc bikes in Royal Enfield's portfolio.

Electric two-wheeler segment - 1,90,941 units

The biggest winner of March 2026 was the electric two-wheeler segment, setting a new sales record with 1,90,941 units sold, which was a year-on-year growth of 45 per cent. TVS Motors continued to lead the segment with 49,304 units sold, with the iCube electric being their best-selling product. Bajaj Auto claimed second place with 46,246 units sold, recording a year-on-year growth of 31 per cent. Aether Energy was third with an insane 128 per cent year-on-year growth, with a 19 per cent market share. By far the most surprising figures were of the Hero VIDA series, coming in at fourth position; they sold 21,434 units in March. This was the highest sales figure recorded by VIDA. And finally, in fifth position was OLA Electric with 10,717 units.
