Bajaj Auto has taken a significant step in the electric scooter market with the unveiling of the next-generation Chetak. Built on a new platform and equipped with advanced features, the latest iteration of the iconic scooter promises to deliver an enhanced riding experience. While the lineup retains its three-variant structure, the company has disclosed the ex-showroom prices for the mid and top-tier models, priced at Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 1.27 lakh, respectively.
Expanded Storage and Improved Features
One of the standout updates in the new Bajaj Chetak is the larger 35-litre boot space. Addressing a common complaint about its predecessor, this spacious boot is among the largest in its segment, making it a practical choice for everyday use. Additionally, the scooter now features a state-of-the-art touchscreen TFT display, offering integrated maps, Bluetooth connectivity, and screen mirroring. Other advanced features include document storage, geo-fencing, theft alerts, and overspeeding notifications, making it a tech-savvy choice for modern riders.
Enhanced Performance and Range
The next-generation Chetak is powered by a new 3.5kWh battery housed under the floorboard, a design choice that optimizes space and lowers the battery’s weight by 3kg. Bajaj claims this lighter battery provides an impressive range of 153km on a single charge. The scooter is equipped with a 950W charger, capable of charging the battery from 0 to 80 percent in just three hours. Despite these upgrades, the Chetak retains its 4kW motor, delivering a top speed of 73kph in the mid and top models, while the base 3503 variant is limited to 63kph.
Improved Dimensions and Comfort
The new Chetak’s floor-mounted battery design has not only enhanced storage but also improved its dimensions. The wheelbase has been extended by 25mm to 1,350mm, offering better stability and ride comfort. Additionally, the seat length has been increased by 80mm, ensuring a more comfortable experience for both rider and passenger.
Competitive Warranty and Rivals
Bajaj Auto is backing the new Chetak with a comprehensive 3-year/50,000km warranty, providing peace of mind for buyers. Currently, the company has announced the prices for the mid and top variants, with the base 3503 model’s pricing to be revealed at a later date. The Chetak faces stiff competition in the electric scooter market, going head-to-head with rivals like the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Ampere Nexus, and Ola S1 range.
A Modern Take on an Iconic Legacy
The next-generation Bajaj Chetak blends its rich legacy with cutting-edge technology, making it a compelling choice for electric scooter enthusiasts. With its enhanced features, improved range, and competitive pricing, the Chetak reaffirms Bajaj Auto’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the electric mobility space. As the demand for eco-friendly transportation grows, the new Chetak is well-positioned to capture the imagination of urban commuters looking for style, functionality, and performance.
