Aprilia SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175 Launched in India: New Premium Scooters Get Bigger Engines and 14-Inch Wheels

Aprilia India has introduced the all-new SXR GT range in India, comprising the SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175. Positioned as premium urban-touring scooters, the new models are designed to combine the convenience of a city scooter with the performance and versatility required for longer journeys. Both scooters feature a bold design, 14-inch wheels and Aprilia's signature Tripod LED headlamp, while the SXR GT 175 gets additional technology and rider-focused equipment.

Engine and Performance

The Aprilia SXR GT range is powered by two air-cooled, single-cylinder engines, with the SXR GT 125 getting a 124.45cc unit and the SXR GT 175 featuring a larger 174.7cc engine. Both engines use a SOHC setup with three valves per cylinder and electronic fuel injection.

Aprilia SXR GT 125

The SXR GT 125 is powered by a 124.45cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 10.5hp at 7400 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque at 6200 rpm. Aprilia says the evolved engine delivers improved power, torque and acceleration, while retaining the versatility required for everyday riding and longer journeys.

Aprilia SXR GT 175

The SXR GT 175 gets a 174.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that develops 13.1hp at 7200 rpm and 14.14 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. The larger engine is designed to offer stronger acceleration and more performance for cruising, while maintaining the scooter's urban-touring character.

Both engines are BSVI OBD II Stage B compliant and compatible with E20 fuel.

The SXR GT range also gets 14-inch wheels, which Aprilia says provide a more planted stance, sharper handling and a smoother ride over varied road surfaces.

Braking

The two scooters get different braking setups.

The SXR GT 125 is equipped with a 220 mm front disc brake with CBS and a 140 mm rear drum brake.

The SXR GT 175 gets a 220 mm front disc brake with ABS, paired with a 140 mm rear drum brake. Aprilia says the combination of the larger wheels, front disc brake and ABS is aimed at providing greater braking control and rider confidence.

Both scooters feature telescopic front forks and a rear dual-effect hydraulic shock absorber with five-position adjustment.

Features

The SXR GT 175 gets the more technology-focused equipment package of the two scooters. It features a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, music management, call management and navigation. The scooter also gets turn-by-turn navigation, allowing riders to access route guidance while riding.

The SXR GT 125, meanwhile, gets a 5-inch LCD display.

Both scooters feature Aprilia's signature Tripod LED front light, which forms a key part of their design and lighting package. The new SXR GT range also gets bold graphics and six new liveries across the two variants.

The SXR GT 175 additionally gets a new muffler with integrated heat protection.

Colours

The SXR GT 125 is available in three colours:

  • Matte Black

  • Glossy Azzurro

  • Glossy White

The SXR GT 175 is offered in:

  • Metallic Blue

  • Matte Black

  • Matte Green

The 175cc version also gets new footboard graphics inspired by Aprilia's GT range.

Optional Accessories

Aprilia is offering a range of optional accessories to further enhance the SXR GT's touring capability. These include a manually adjustable windshield and crash guard, allowing owners to tailor the scooter according to their riding requirements.

The company also lists a large windscreen, perimeter kit and utilitarian top box among the available touring accessories.
